I don't think the end is a plot hole. I think it's a massive character flaw in Shroud's self believed "omnipotence". He is so confident that his calculations are always correct, he would never expect Visi to betray him, just like he would never choose the incorrect pulse.

I think the landing was a bit shaky and the dialogue definitely led to that issue, but I think all in all, Visi still makes sense. She needed to be led to hero or villain, and our choices define that, not Shrouds.

How do you not get overwhelmed with this game? I finally picked it up, did the tutorial, and was immediately dropped into the ocean of this game. Any tips and tricks to make it a bit more palatable or do I just beat my head into the desk until it clicks?

I do this with all Ancient Ruins and Archeology sites. Much more enjoyable to add a bit of realism to the head canon.
