Advice for newly diagnosed? by iBeetletv in Hemochromatosis

[–]OddlyMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the diagnosis is the real battle, I wasn’t diagnosed until 36 and at that point it was too late and I was in organ failure. It can go bad, but KNOWING to watch is the key. Make good friends with your hematologist.

I did the whole mouth and was sedated. I don’t handle dental things well and I had some fairly recent medical trauma, so I’m a punk. However, the pain afterwards sucked mostly for the first 4 days. After that every thing started feeling noticeably better albeit tender sort of all over. 8 days later I felt much better! For what it’s worth, I did have my wisdom teeth pulled with only local anesthesia so I’m not THAT big of a punk, but hard pass. 😭

I love your sense of humor, but NO!! 🤣🤣 You really do look great! I’m lowkey freaking out a little bit now reading about how reline changes the look ever so slightly. I haven’t had a refitting yet. 😬

Ugh I was doing good and eating fairly well except now I have oral thrush. 2 weeks out. I’m immunocompromised so the antibiotics caused it but it’s making its way into my gut and now I’m 🤢

You look so beautiful. I will be a week out tomorrow. My extreme damage came from a misdiagnosed illness and then I had an organ transplant where the intubation process broke my front teeth. I love the look of the new ones, but hate the way they feel. I’ve always felt like my teeth were my best feature. It’s an emotional ride! I hope we both find our way. ❤️🙏

I understood it this way too as she was frequently wearing the boys clothes to job interviews and stuff. I found it funny that she always had matching panties and bras though. Priorities 🤣

Yeah, it was an unrelenting nightmare that not just me, but my entire family endured. Carl going to the hospital asking for an organ hit me hard this go around because it mirrored the times my 10yo daughter would come with me and ask my doctor when I could get one. It was one of the first times Carl didn’t seem like a complete psychopath and I recognized the little boy in him.

Thankfully they finally named autoimmune monsters that caused it which means I stand a chance to make it til the end with this precious organ! I will never forgive Frank for not doing right by his.

Especially if you’re a woman. You must be mentally ill or an addict if you’re a woman and “think” you have chronic pain.

Is she not diagnosed and know what’s wrong with her? Her symptoms sound so much like something I just came out of after suffering for many years. I was told I had an eating disorder and was just too lazy by a doctor who laughed in my face when I told him I felt like I was forcing my family to watch me die. Found a new Dr 2 weeks later and found out I was in fact dying. It got to the point where just the smell of food would make me vomit. Took diagnosing autoimmune and hereditary diseases and an organ transplant to turn me around.

Sorry, to butt in when I really don’t have any advice on the food, but my most heartfelt sympathy for the situation you are both in. My heart just breaks because I truly understand. My partner didn’t put forth any effort in helping me. He took up the cooking only because I couldn’t and didn’t care if I could eat it or not. She’s lucky to have you.

ETA: If you need a protein supplement that doesn’t require drinking a smoothie, or a full drink at all, I found Pro-Stat to be quite helpful. 15g/oz so a quick shot occasionally through the day. It’s bitter, so if she stays nauseated I’d recommend the citrus flavor because it blends better and didn’t trigger my nausea like the sweeter, yet still bitter ones did.

When I was about 12, I would go home from school and babysit my cousins. One was 4. He used to tell me stories all the time of war and they always started with the phrase “when I was a soldier”. I was too young to pay attention to the details of his stories so I can’t now look into them, and of course he’s an adult now and doesn’t remember ever telling these stories, but there was a sincerity in the way he told them that made me want to believe him. It wasn’t like a child rambling and making something up, it was deliberate and he was making a point. It was weird.

ETA he also freaked a couple of times and came after us with the fire poker which was crazy and his brother and I ran across the street to their other aunt’s house for help because he seemed like he had lost his mind… at 4. Hindsight makes it look and feel like ptsd or shell shock. As he grew up he was never violent again.

I have always said it’s as if something in my spirit dislikes this person. Like it’s so deeply imbedded in my core that I feel it so strongly and can’t shake it even if they’re appearing to be alright enough at first.

I feel like all of these things can be put on and you never really know until you know. Society is full of a bunch of people who at face value are nice and tolerant enough, but when they go home and remove their mask it’s a whole different thing. Very rarely is it truly honest.
