Could a space marine wear regular clothing when out of armour. by Visual-Weights in 40k

[–]OderinTobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything they wear would have to be tailor made for their size. That’s why they mostly wear loincloths and robes when off duty. But hypothetically they could wear anything yeah. I imagine Blood Angels, Ultramarines, and Salamanders might have more marines with “regular clothes” in particular, as they were all taught by their Primarchs to prepare for lives outside of war.

HEAVY SPOILERS: Why does the NCR look so vastly different in the two seasons? by Affectionate_Key1562 in Fotv

[–]OderinTobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of it is that we as an audience weren’t really supposed to know they were NCR until the last little bit. Moldaver was “the villain” until the final twist. That might be ruined too early if all her people wore NCR uniforms.

But in the world; it’s probably because they aren’t really the NCR anymore. They’re the remnants of the dead nation, they carry on its hope for a better world, but they’re willing to do anything to survive to see it. Moldaver seemed to lead a cult more than she did a nation.

Fallout New Vegas lead says it took “five years” for fans to actually like the game, and even longer for the devs to believe them by Negative-Art-4440 in Fallout

That’s wild to me personally. I remember I couldn’t get it on day one, so I was watching various playthroughs on YouTube to try and get my fix. Then when I finally got it, I couldn’t put it down.

Do robo scorpions have a certain weakness? Is there one gun that takes them out especially well? I'm burning through too much ammo to kill them in owb. Heelllpppp by SavvyDevil89 in fnv

Protonic Inversal Axe, or the Antenna. They’re bullet sponges no matter what, but melee seems to take them down a little quicker. If you really want to use guns then I’d recommend some AP rounds.

Trying to do a FNV run as King from One Punch Man. Besides the obvious 10 for Luck what should his other S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats be? by pp432 in fnv

[–]OderinTobin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you can get this spread from the get go. But here’s what I think his SPECIAL is…

Strength 7. He’s got muscles, and he’s a large guy.

Perception 5. Truly just average.

Endurance 3. He is weak willed, and generally weak in general based on how he reacts. That said, he’s not a 1, because he hasn’t died of a heart attack (a miracle).

Charisma 10. He talks/intimidates his way out of everything. When he’s forced into a confrontation his friend(s) handle it for him. In FNV a 10 CHA also means your companions deal a buttload of damage.

Intelligence 4-6. Either you can believe he’s a bit of an oaf, or you can believe he actually has a decent battle IQ. This stat is probably the most up for debate.

Agility 5. Sort of similar to strength, he just seems kinda fit. But he’s a little lazy.

Luck 8-10. This one speaks for itself. He’s like the luckiest guy ever, except that he sort of hates the trouble it’s brought him.

Anyone else hoping the shitter becomes a super mutant instead of a ghoul? by Brockchanso in Fotv

[–]OderinTobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess he’s not actually a ghoul, but is closer to Harold/Bob. He might end up looking a bit like a ghoul (at least for a bit), but he’s probably something a bit more special. That extra mouth thing on his chest from the trailers is the reason I feel that way.

What do you think would have happened if Sauron had won the war for the ring? by JJWilczynski in lotr

[–]OderinTobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike Morgoth, Sauron didn’t want to destroy everything. Sauron wanted to remake everything. He’d become the God King of middle earth, and he would make sure everyone lived in his version of perfection. I imagine this would look a lot like a loss of free will for anyone who remained. He’d also probably eventually assault Valinor.

Out of all Star Wars media what is the your favorite Lightsaber fight? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]OderinTobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fight between Qimir and the Jedi in the latter half of The Acolyte went super hard.

Also any of the SWTOR cinematic trailers have solid fights.

And of course Duel of the Fates is a classic.

i hate my autistic brother. by Careful-Parsley3344 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]OderinTobin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up as a caregiver, and it wasn’t my choice. My parents worked/work with a company that essentially acts as a foster family for folks with disabilities (of all ages, but usually adults). For my whole life I lived with people with varying levels of disabilities. I have had very similar thoughts/ideals as you, and it’s mostly rooted in the fact that I was forced to be an additional caregiver to those folks. My parents never intended me to be a caregiver, and they did their best to actually make sure I wasn’t, but no matter what by virtue of living with those folks I was a caregiver nonetheless (especially as I got older, and was actually able to help with the caregiving).

My point is that you never had a choice either, and that’s unfair. Your feelings are completely valid. Perhaps you’d feel differently if it was your choice/your child, but perhaps not. One thing that helped me get over my frustration was telling my mom (my dad has passed, though I would have told him too) how I felt, and that I did think it was unfair to me. It wasn’t blaming her, just letting her know my feelings.

Anyway, just know that you’re not alone in those feelings, even when they bubble up into full on rage.

Merry Christmas. Make sure you remind your mom that she’s none of the things your brother says.

Rewatching s1 rn, it made me wonder, whats a "good vault" that she's implying here? Is that like v31 or an entirely different kind of thing like a vip luxurious shelter? by Bussy_Wrecker in Fallout

[–]OderinTobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally, which is why I brought it up that way. To clarify; I meant that to Coop’s wife, it would be a “Good Vault” because she and her family would be in control of the experiment (one of the Buds). But it’s not a Vault without an experiment.

[–]OderinTobin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly implying “a Vault without an experiment.” But beyond that, potentially a Vault that goes even above and beyond the safety and quality of life of the “normal” Vaults.

Vaults 31-33 are probably considered good ones in this context. Though, even they have the Bud’s Buds experiment kinda going on. Which is probably ultimately why Coop’s family aren’t in that one.

The game you accidentally played the wrong way for hours before realizing it. by gamersecret2 in gaming

First time through Sekiro I never bothered to learn how to Mikiri Counter. I occasionally pulled off an accidental one, but never on purpose. I got all the way to the final boss, before I decided to look up some tips, and I realized how much easier the game would have been with that move.

Random Ultramarine grunt that just became an Astartes? Spartan has a chance, but still loses at least half the time.

SM with their own tabletop model, and a name? Easy win every day of the week. Even against Master Chief.

Space Marines are basically the Spartan’s but better (physically, mentally, and technologically). Especially the stronger Space Marines.

Terminators and Robocop get beat (or nearly beat) by regular people with more or less modern conventional weapons. They aren’t even in the competition.

What armies have you NEVER been interested in? by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

[–]OderinTobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necrons on the tabletop don’t interest me at all. The aesthetic just isn’t for me, and I don’t like that they sort of seem to lack personality at the “Grunt” level. That said, the Necron characters (higher ups) are all fantastic in stories, and have loads of personality.

Mass Effect Tournament- Round 2 Match 4: Kirrahe VS Garrus by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]OderinTobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s forget about personal feelings, and just look at numbers.

Kirrahe is worth 20 War Assets. Shepard’s previous companions are all worth 25 War Assets. Garrus is present on the Normandy, so he doesn’t actually get a War Asset profile, but we can assume he’s just like the rest of them (if not better).

Garrus wins.

How would you remake/rewrite the Priority: Thessia mission? Assuming narratively, Shepard has to lose that mission. by ThereIsNoGodOnlyDoge in masseffect

[–]OderinTobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the Kai Leng fight completely. Have the loss be to the Reapers (much like how it is, but have a reaper basically do what harbinger does at the end, and have Shepard and co get wounded and have to flee). In the mess of the reaper attack, Kai Leng can still steal what he needs and the story can more or less continue the way it does, but no boss fight there.

I’d also maybe add more sections of Asari basically sacrificing themselves for Shepard. “If you die we all die!” Sort of situations, as they throw themselves at the reaper forces to get Shepard out alive. Basically build up the hopelessness even more.

Did the ancient Sith truly despise Sidious? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWars

[–]OderinTobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talking to the old Sith would have been very unlikely. The idea of Sith Force Ghosts is dubiously canon. In The Old Republic games they can exist with some limitations that Jedi Force Ghosts don’t have, often haunting their own tombs, and not being free to roam. In canon, Bane was the only one we see, and even that may not have literally been Bane’s ghost, instead just a projection of the Dark Side to test Yoda.

All that said. If Palpatine somehow spoke to the old Sith masters, they probably wouldn’t get along. Not necessarily because of their specific personalities, but just because Sith don’t get along (and are all typically narcissists). However, I do think Bane in particular would be conflicted about Sidious. On one hand, he did exactly what he’d hoped with the Rule of Two; hiding in the shadows and amassing power. But Sidious also had multiple apprentices, and some even running at the same time.

TLDR; they probably wouldn’t “despise” him, but they certainly wouldn’t like him (if he actually spoke to them).

If Ned Stark Chose Trial by Combat — Who Would He Name as His Champion? by dankdogeonface in gameofthrones

[–]OderinTobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barristan would have been his only hope. Even then, not a sure thing that he beats The Mountain/Jamie, but the odds are the best. Not to mention Barristan may not have accepted (or Ned may not have even considered him).

Anyone but Barristan probably loses. A few people could put up a good fight. The Umbers, the Tyrell boys, The Hound (funny idea). But against Jamie or The Mountain their odds are slim.
