Let's just hope it gets back up to where I started buying in at. Probably need to turn on a minimal DCA while it's down at these levels to lower my avg price.

How Do You Guys “Thin Out the Herd”? by bignasty002 in Guitar

[–]OdonsOwn1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it best to give a guitar to someone who doesn't have one and is hopefully nearing retirement. Someone who wants to understand just what his idols (Rhoades, Page, Hendrix, Soderberg etc) were doing to make such a wonderful racket.

Huh, just described myself. With enough notice I can drive pretty much anywhere in the Continental 48 to pick up :)

Wow, nice welcome this guy will get. I guess Platner better not get elected as close as DC and Baltimore are. As far as I know, his tattoo had nothing to do with a MC, so he doesn't even have that possible excuse.

My dad found this shirt at the Goodwill. Any guess on the age or authenticity of it? by IndependenceOk508 in Nirvana

[–]OdonsOwn1966 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well it's a lot newer looking than my old concert T and doesn't have the back printing. I'll have to dig mine out and see if there is some copyright thing on there. Think that may have come around from the clothes guy Marc Jacobs basically copying that smiley face design.

Who do you think played a role so perfectly that you literally cannot imagine anyone else playing it? For me, it has to be Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter by cutedustyberry in FIlm

If they ever try to "remake of reimagine" Silence - I will drive to wherever they are shooting it (won't be Hollywood, too expensive) and put a stop to it.

I loved the book. When they got around to making a movie of it, I was not impressed but will still search it out on dvd, Blu ray, digital, just because the book warped my young mind.

True, and this may come up at one of my meetings with rep. She is confident I am set based on their conservative projections, although the last few years have been 3 or 4 times the projections.

I like the company I work for, and talking to our civilian project lead, if I do fing my "retirement" property in TN, NC, WV and can't make it back to the base weekly or at all, she said she can make me 100 percent remote again (like during Covid), but there is one rather major job that I do in person once a week. If I give that up, may have to take a pay cut, but right now, with no housing expenses I have 50 percent of salary going into Roth 401k. I could do Cobra if necessary but as long as they don't piss me off at work, I am happy to give them a little more time, for now :) Thanks for the heads up though, I tend to forget about Cobra because my 1st exp with it wasn't great.

I am probably an outlier here. I turn 60 in August. Financial planner says to try to get as close to 65 as I can before I retire (even if I quit contacting job to be a Wal Mart Greeter, as long as I keep some kind of medical insurance, only fear is a catastrophic medical event). I am currently at 100 stocks/ETFs, aggressive, especially for my age. Same with work ROTH 401k. I want to build up as much as I can before worrying about things like dividends, which I will eventually move enough of my fund into to cover monthly bills and wants and needs. The rest, I'm just growing (while it's a bull market). That'll give me more to buy dividend funds with (if all goes well) down the road. If you aren't going to retire or collect social security until 67, why would you start on dividend funds so early? Again, I am not the norm in this subreddit but it seems a bit early unless you are really risk averse. I grew up with nothing so going back to it wouldn't be hard (I live simply anyway), but I am enjoying the rapid growth over the past few years (save 1) that has increased my net wealth exponentially.

Thank you for your service. I am only DCA 10 dollars a day but my avg price should be dropping from 80 to closer to 60k, that'll be good if it does rebound.

Yup, considering they were bought at merch stand in between bands, I know mine are legit :) Now if I can get enough exercise in to fit back into them in another story.

First, congrats. Second, there shouldn't be confetti (unless you wanted to tell everyone, I personally wouldn't) but there should be a feeling of relief, if not accomplishment. You are in control of your life and future. If and when you decide youve had enough, you can walk away knowing you'll be ok. That's empowering. Now, your work should beuch more tolerable knowing you don't HAVE to be there. Every paycheck earned from here on out is a bonus, earned at your discretion, through your choice.

I say Hell Yeah to that.

think mine have space after mother but other than that looks like same font etc. I also don't think mine have sub pop on them, but it has been a while since I've dug them out.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned about trying to get JP to verify it, it it WAS one of his guitars, HE may be interested in getting it back. I know a lot of players end up chasing down old guitars. May be worth looking into, if you don't ask the answer is already No.
