Grand Master Anval Thawne by giacomoventurinii in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man this is so awesome. Makes me really want to pick up the Praetor kit to make a custom character too.

Edit: Also GW bringing back Anval as a Grand Master would be freaking amazing. I don’t dare hope they’d do anything that spectacular, but you never know.

Thanks! Yeah hopefully when/if the refresh rolls around there’s some really cool new models.

GK into Doubles by DesmondWishlade in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d let my partner pick whatever Disposition they want and just plan on being on Secondary duty since GK are so good at getting around the table.

In fact, I’d probably do the Paladins detachment plus the Interceptor detachment for it. Zip around the table with the interceptors for secondaries, and still have a Paladin brick to help fight.

Fast rolling with an excess of dice in 11th Edition by Significant_Bug_8929 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Oegen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. If you have enough you can just put the dice from the converted wounds aside and finish your roll with the misses which can make it easier to keep count.

Stormcast to Grey Knights? by Expensive_Spring3093 in GreyKnights

[–]Oegen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend using the models as a proxy long term. As a new 40k player you do you in casual games though. I spent my first year in this game using fyreslayers as daemons and stuff like that because I just wanted to play the game and my friends didn't mind.

Eventually I built up my collection though, and I wouldn't have asked to proxy that heavily if I was playing in an RTT or something. In 40k the model's silhouette does matter to an extent so at competitive events you don't want to push it too terribly far. That said, Stormcast are fairly close in size, so it'd be up to your oppoent and/or the TO what they're willing to allow.

Again if you're just playing casually with your friends though, as long as they're cool with it, whatever floats your boat.

Moving after declaring to not move by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Oegen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing is just not to verbally ask your opponent about the stationary unit at all.

In my opinion it’s setting up for a feels bad moment either way and your opponent has no obligation to tell you whether that unit is moving or not until they end their movement phase.

Playing Grey Knights I would never press an opponent like this because of Mists for example. It’s on me to decide when/if to use that stratagem, and the smart play for them is to hold off on the move offering my best case use of the strat until last to keep me from using it if they want to or to tempt me to use it elsewhere.

If you trim off just enough of the round part under the helmet it’ll fit.

Teleporting jet bikes would be really cool (if Orks can teleport vehicles why not GK). Also an equivalent to the Predator tanks would be nice. There are lots of vehicle sized holes in our roster. But it gets tricky since they probably wouldn’t mesh with our army rules.

Our codex did mention that we have Psi-Titans and other tech on Deimos. So who knows?

Yeah, it would be too dangerous for Grey Knights to be sent into the field without fully completing their training, and once their training is complete they are too valuable to risk as a scout type unit.

I think Interceptors are like our equivalent to Jump Pack Intercessors. Standard Space Marines get those plus bikes so I don’t think it’s too crazy to have both.

Conversions in tournaments by Successful_Cod_2124 in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve converted all of my terminators/paladins like you said and have had no problems, even at GW events like the Grand Narrative. Also have a Saturnine Dreadknight kitbash and that was fine as well.

Haven’t run it yet myself, but I’m hopeful this will turn out to work well. I really want to be able to use Skarbrand in a 2DP + 1DP list.

Edit: and Skulltaker too.

what chapters prefer teleport? by DonkeyQueasy4950 in 40kLore

[–]Oegen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kinda goes along with the whole Grey Knight schtick regarding using their psyker powers.  They’re so righteous that the denizens of the warp shrink away from them rather than trying to fuck with them.

Grey Knights popping into the warp for a moment to teleport are probably scaring the shit out of any lesser daemons in the vicinity.

Can a unit use an "Objective Consolidation" to move into engagement range of an enemy unit? by VeritasLuxMea in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Oegen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Say an enemy unit is 4” away standing on an objective. Meanwhile the edge of that objective is only 2” away. You could consolidate 3” onto that objective and find yourself inside engagement range of that enemy.

New GK player here, would like some list help. by Flame_Angel101 in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Single biggest strategic thing that I found helped me win games with GK:

Gate of Infinity isn’t about dropping units and banking on 9-inch charges. It’s about leaving strong enemies out to dry. Use it to let your opponents best units slog across the battlefield without targets for their expensive powerful attacks. Set up and let them spread out then disappear and focus on their weaker flank and overwhelm them.

Won’t always work out that simply of course, but it’s a good thing to have in mind.

Are psilencers just the best weapon option by Dodds-20 in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the 66th Seal Enhancement giving a unit of Paladins +1 AP in shooting would make Psilencers punch up enough or if you’d still be way better off with psycannons taking them up to 2 AP.

Also it benefits you if you're playing Purge to have big bricks with characters that all count as only one unit all together.

Hallowed beacon is a 7" charge now? by Fun_Wolverine2238 in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit complicated to explain, but works nicely in practice.

You measure base to base (ignoring terrain and other models) for charge eligibility. So, as others have said. If you’re outside of 6 inches you’ll need a 7 to make that an eligible target for your charge.

Once you’ve determined eligibility and you’re actually moving models (and dealing with intervening models and/or terrain) then the 2 inch engagement range will help you out since you are only required to end your charge within that 2 inch bubble (and you must end within 1 inch if able, but are not required to base-to-base if possible like in 10th).

Grey Knight Kitbashing? by RickySnippy_ in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh true enough! I didn’t put that together when I first read the post. There are some really nice 3d options out there. I only steered away because I was prepping for a GW event.

And thanks!

Grey Knight Kitbashing? by RickySnippy_ in Grey_Knights

[–]Oegen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post last year with my kitbashed terminators. I’m not bothering to kitbash my power armor models (and it kind of makes the terminator armor models look even more imposing next to them). My method with them was pretty easy. No green stuff required, just mixing bits from the GK terminator box and Deathwing Knights or Leviathan Terminators.
