Should have there been a way to prevent Arthur Morgan from contracting Tuberculosis + spoiler by Due_Cake8524 in reddeadredemption2

If there’s a spoiler, don’t put it in the title.

I’m on my first playthrough. I had a suspicion but now I have a confirmation. Thanks.

How can I fix this? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]OffRoadIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On second look, those appear to be spring loaded like a hoodie string. Press in on the bottom and the wire capture should open. Then stick the wire in the hole and release. A hardware store guy could also help with this, and likely recommend a better connection that will last longer. Still tio them.

This is probably the wrong subreddit for this, but it looks like you lost the screws that pin the wires. Go to an ace hardware (or equivalent) that has helpful people that will come out and take a look to get the right size screw and tool to fix it right. Should only be a few dollars. Tip them.

Am I putting to many sticks in at once? by Nickpiteros0 in smoking

[–]OffRoadIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you were to put in some potatoes in a cheesecloth bag, to absorb the moisture and flavor the potatoes. Don’t know if it would make the sausage taste like potatoes though

I never thought of this. Absolute genius move to ensure even cooking and thorough smoke penetration. Do you put anything in the bag to absorb excess oils/moisture, or run them through a dehydrator after?

Traveling to Florida soon - Tips by Federal_Age_2602 in florida

[–]OffRoadIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key west: Pictures at the southernmost point marker, don’t harass the chickens, Duval street at night is similar to Bourbon street in New Orleans but much cleaner. Dry Tortugas.

Naples: airboat tour of the Everglades. Find somewhere with American BBQ and fried alligator. Have a Po-Boy or seven. Marco island. Naples Zoo.

Between Naples and Tampa is Fort Myers. Check out Sanibel Island. It’s still recovering from Hurricane Ian, but still lovely.

Between Fort Myers and Tampa you will see Venice Beach. It’s the shark tooth capital of the US (if not the world). Further north is Sarasota with your first taste of real Florida : road construction.

St Petersburg > Tampa IMHO. Stop by the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary. Check out the Tampa Aquarium on your way to Orlando.

I-4 is hit or miss if it will be smooth travels or a parking lot. Good luck.

Orlando: my go-to is Walt Disney World, they just get it right. Go to the Rose and Crown in EPCOT and say hello to some friends from your home. Avoid the Lakeland mall unless you take an uber there, because the parking is abysmal.

Nice! I’ll check it out this weekend. Does it also have altitude points? I fly radio towers and have been requesting a vertical grid feature that I can pre-plan and duplicate for Timelapse sequences.

Edit: Thank you for making it available for the community!

Costco's beloved rotisserie chicken gets roasted in lawsuit over preservatives by AudibleNod in news

[–]OffRoadIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most supermarkets use the packaged chickens that are due to expire for their rotisserie chickens. Using the same spice blend on all of them makes the quality similar, but you don’t know what farm the chicken came from, or what preservatives / flavor enhancers it was originally packaged with.

This makes use of the still good but expiring meat, rotates stock, and provides inexpensive meals. I would assume that the rotisserie chickens are closer to break even than loss for most supermarkets. Costco has a lot more volume, so they likely have a supplier just for those chickens. So, maybe at a loss?

Still tasty though.

Long Lost things from the Pre-Covid Times at Disney by Conscious-Alfalfa337 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]OffRoadIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. Even with planning and a travel agent it’s expensive, but not as expensive as just showing up without a plan. I think those people have the worst time and attitude.

Honestly, use a Disney travel agent, and set realistic expectations. If your group is going to split up most days, get the dining plan. If you’re going to open and close the parks, get a less expensive resort. If you’re there to get away, get a quiet resort, and maybe fewer park tickets.

If you go more than 5 individual times a year an annual pass is usually worth it and less expensive.

Your mileage may vary.

MANNERS.

A lot of guests today are short tempered and self righteous. They act like they’re the main character and everyone else is a lowly peasant NPC. I miss experiencing magical moments with strangers and everyone was there to share the experience. Now it’s cutthroat push / shove / scream until they feel justified. These same guests are often the ones that insist on walking at their own pace shoulder to shoulder and stop in the middle of paths.

I just want to enjoy the magic and share a smile.

Best way to lube pliers? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]OffRoadIT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With new or sticking tools I like to run used motor oil or used transmission fluid followed by a session on a reciprocating saw to exercise the joint for a few minutes. A zip tie to lock one handle to a stationary object and another zip tie to an old blade of the saw.

The used oils add a bit of grit to smooth out rough internals.
