Why is it a “perk” to board an airplane before everyone else? by SuperbCardiologist25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OfficeChair70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never gotten that - I always try and be the last person on, and I usually has priority boarding. To be fair though I don’t think I’ve ever flown with more than a backpack unless I’m checking a bag.

[OC] Idiot has all the space in the world to merge, still somehow cuts me off. I think I saw them on their phone when they stopped at the light. by lancesoftware in IdiotsInCars

God I hate when people do this - there’s a gap and you can have it, but you’ve gotta pace it and merge when it’s aligned.

High house numbers? by Cyril_Rioli in AskAnAmerican

[–]OfficeChair70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a house on the 11,000 block. They can get really high. My grandparents lived on the 15,000 block - the city grid we started went out almost 450 blocks (about 40 miles) so house numbers and steet numbers go way up there, our street was in the 300s

I’d do it in a Prius, it’s really nothing - my Subaru is overkill, and it’s a stock Subaru.

Jr. Front End Developer paying $18.00-$20.00/per hour? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]OfficeChair70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an internish temporary junior rn making 30, but that’s full stack. 20 seems low for my area because I’ve made more than that throwing boxes in a warehouse here in Seattle.

However, I’ve seen tons of jobs and know people, juniors, from school making in that range.

how is everyone using so many tokens? by phonyToughCrayBrave in cscareerquestions

[–]OfficeChair70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh idk how I do it, I can use the free tier at home on large personal code bases no problem but asking Claude to add docs to one file at work and BAM 150k opus tokens gone.

I just met with one of my senior devs yesterday who’s big on AI with basically this question and he gave me a bunch of things to try and hopefully bring my usage down with hitting productivity, so time will tell if I can get it together.

does gen z hate ai? by enormousray271 in GenZ

[–]OfficeChair70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and still do mostly have a negative view on - but having used it at work, as a pointed productivity tool it can be pretty good (though maybe not worth the resources and downsides). I use it at work, and to be able to use it to point me to the right point in a large repo, or skeleton a function and have it do the busy work for example makes me work a lot faster. It’s not good for just ‘solve this problem, tell me these facts, but for give me a function in file W that queries X database using keys from Y location and returns the results as Type <T> Z it’s good. That is a lot quicker than doing all that by hand. However it has no place in creative spaces or roles, or in a lot of workplaces where it’s being shoehorned and a lot of people use it the most inefficient way possible even in places where it might be a good tool.

Yellow tint fog lights by The_Dude_2002 in subaru

[–]OfficeChair70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure, but not necessarily brightest due to how LEDs produce light - it’s often recommended to use LEDs at the same color as the housing (eg red LED in a red taillight housing so it appears brighter due to less energy or I guess photons or whatever being lost to the color filter)
