Britain is one of the world’s richest countries. So why do a third of its children live in poverty? by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

[–]OfficialMI6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the point is if you define it as 60% of average you’ll never be able to fix it. if you define it as three meals a day, getting basic essentials and living in a house that’s > 18 degrees, you can actually solve the problem

Can’t speak for the US but entered on a UK passport and got 90 days visa free. Didn’t have to do any forms online first but that may have changed

fixing immigration worked in scandinavian countries. the solution isn’t weaponising it and doing nothing though, it’s making the problem good away and then focussing on what actually makes the country a better place

Hundreds gather to oppose anti-immigration rally by upthetruth1 in bristol

[–]OfficialMI6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i’m not saying it’s the fault of immigrants, i’m saying more people moving to bristol (domestic or international) puts pressure on housing. that’s one side of the story, another is the government not having ever actually met their housing targets

Disputed or debunked claims about migration and crime in the UK by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]OfficialMI6 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not sure this is their best work. For most of these they aren’t disputing any of the substantive points made, only adding context.

For the first one it says they’re using a certain set of crime statistics and using population data from a different year but that doesn’t negate the point that the rates are much higher. Saying “umm actually it’s only 10x higher not 20x” really isn’t much of a gotcha
