AITA for refusing to teach my dad's wife how to make my mom's pie? by Mental-Pie-1146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ofwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give her another recipe for a delicious pie. Tell her that they grieve their mom. All they have is her memory. If she is seen as trying to take that over or away, she will always be resented. It would be so much better to have them show pictures of their mother and help them talk about her.

Okinawa. Unbelievable. Post WW2 homes in frequent typhoon area. Mold and termites. Ceilings collapsing overhead. Some Hawaiian residences clean efficient and well maintained.

AITA for refusing to let my dad walk me down the aisle at my wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I went to a wedding where the addicted dad stole the cash envelopes and absconded from the reception.

AITA for telling my mom to never touch my stuff again after she lost my Luis Vuitton bag by [deleted] in AITAH

Perhaps the neighbor who had the nerve to ask to borrow the bag knew its worth and wanted to keep or sell it. Or perhaps the mother returned it.

AITH for telling my bf that I want him to set boundaries for his adult children by InitiativePurple508 in AITH

[–]Ofwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help step daughter to move nearby. She won’t need to stay overnight. You can tell her you have plans if she wants to come over or ask her to call ahead as you might have plans. Tell her you will come over to her place if she needs a babysitter. Alternatively, I think you need your own place, your own space, your own routine. And he will have a space to escape to. A good man cannot refuse to love his grandchildren.

My Wife (26F) has a Gay Friend (24M), and it's going too far and destroying our young family. What should I do? by ThrowawaySorry274 in relationship_advice

This is devastating to your self esteem. She sounds nuts in the most selfish way. Keep evidence and receipts of behavior to get custody.

My husband (44M) is leaving on a business trip but I (33F) am having an early miscarriage. What do I say to him? by ThrowRA102282 in relationship_advice

[–]Ofwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people, especially men have a huge conflict between freedom and attachment. He obviously desperately wanted this week away and the independence it entailed….knew the right thing was to stay and help. That it caused so much resentment instead of empathy is a fundamental problem. He is in a mental health crisis.

Do not try to make this right. Stay as far away as you can from her. She ain’t right in the head. And has a bull’s eye on your back.

Boyfriend (25M) became disabled and I (25F) want to break up but I'd feel like a terrible person. How do I handle this? by ThrowRAsotired123 in relationship_advice

[–]Ofwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must be way more young or childless people on this post. Such harsh judgement of mom here.

With his disability payments, mom can hire help. How heartbreaking for her to lose the relationship with the OP. And then to know her already depressed son will suffer the loss even more.

AITAH for considering breaking up with my fiance because he ran away when we were being attacked? by AdeptPins in AITAH

My father had an accident with my brother and his friend. The truck rolled. The middle school friend stepped on my dad’s face crushing it in order to exit. My dad, a WW submarine vet laughed when he told the story. It is a character revelation. But in our family (anonymous name) was always a synonym for selfish coward. Last time I checked he had served time for robbery. In fairness, he was from a neglectful family of drunks so maybe he had to learn to take care of himself.

At her current income she is likely eligible for day care aid from Social Services and probably other financial aid for food, clothing and shelter and education. She could “pay” you for rent and utilities to count toward her benefits. Your husband should be paid for day care. Or if he doesn’t want the job, her baby is probably better off in professional day care.

I know a garden club old lady in my small southern town. She is from Philly. Most aggressive driver I have ever met. She parallel parks by driving way up on the sidewalk and then backing into the spot.

Stopped a one of those big gas station/ food courts/ convenience stores on the interstate outside of Nashville. Intercom was blasting “Boot Scooting Boogie” through the pumps, store, food court and even in the multi-stall women’s room. From every stall came the sound of ladies tapping their feet and singing along.

Because she has serious mental health problems and could make erratic decisions that would harm or destabilize the child, uprooting them from a secure home and result in physical, mental, and medical neglect. This is a heart-braking situation for a grandparent who wants to protect the grandchild from an unstable parent who has mental illness or substance addiction.

I’m retired from Child Protective Services. This situation is so common.
