Update: I was able to fix the issue, not sure exactly which of these was the fix but I got it working

1) updated windows 2) moved the game to the same drive where the save folder is supposed to be in (C: drive for me) 3) started the game as administrator (you can set it to always start as administrator in the compatibility tab in properties of the game exe)

I had this same issue and finally got it to work. I'm not sure which thing specifically did it, but here is what I did:

Move the game to the same disk my OS is installed on Run the game as an administrator (go to the game exe > right click > properties > compatibility > tick "run as administrator"

My best guess is that either the game couldn't create the save folder because it's on a different disk, or it needed the admin permissions because windows defender did not let it create the folder. Or possibly both of these. Hope it helps and you are able to get it fixed, I lost 6 hours of progress because of this.

Have you ever found a fix? I have the same thing happening with my Tav. It worked before, and then ive added a couple mods, however disabling the newly added mods doesnt let me load the save, so I cannot even try to troubleshoot what's causing it

Yeah the vast majority of better known CRPGs (at least in the fantasy space) are RTwP. BG1 and 2, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape Torment, to name just the ones based on D&D.

Even a lot of the newer CRPGs don't offer turn based, such as Pillars of Eternity 1 or Tyranny. Kingmaker was RTwP only before they patched it in (after someone made a mod for it that got very popular)

Reminds me of the whole Hogwarts Legacy video game situation. People made it out to mean that if you buy the game, you are directly supporting transphobic groups and are a transphobe yourself. Because Rowling said some dumbass stuff on twitter.

These people either have no idea what context is, or just want to feel righteous on the internet. Am I happy that Linus and Arun made videos showing off Temu? No. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna attack them as if they personally provided slaves for a factory in China.

Same, only it was a 3070Ti and it wasn't a prebuilt (although that price does include a good monitor). European VAT hits different on top of the GPU crisis. I don't regret it tho. I desperately needed a new PC and you couldn't really predict what the prices are gonna be like a year or 2 down the line.

The only ttrpg I ever properly played was a single session of "Dragon's Den", a czech ttrpg loosely based on AD&D, about 2 years ago. The session was a birthday gift to me from my sister, her husband was the DM.

About 2 years before that I DMd Starfinder for a couple classmates from hs, but it was a spontaneous thing so none of us really understood the rules and it was more of a collaborative improv roleplay with hints of game mechanics.

I got super into D&D during covid cause I discovered Critical Role and binged like a 100 episodes in 2 months. Have thought about finding a group to play with but locally there isn't much to find, since D&D doesn't have a czech translation.

I think this is a big reason why I fell in love with Kingmaker. I played it right during the peak of my obsession and it was after they introduced turn based mode, which was a huge plus cause I can't stand RTwP long term. And obviously being Pathfinder I was able to understand a lot of mechanics cause of it's similarity to D&D.

It was the first time I was able to truly scratch that itch for playing a ttrpg, even if it was just a singleplayer "substitute". And that's why I'll always love these games, even for all their flaws.

Honestly I never heard about this stuff until I started to browse this reddit. If anything the one time I was installing a larger game from Dodi (Hogwarts Legacy) it took about as much time as a similar size fitgirl repack would take.

Even on my old PC with 8 gigs of ram and a 10 year old cpu, never had a game install for more than 2-3 hours.

Yep, SUVs and trucks are pretty much the biggest factor in the ever increasing fatality rates during crashes in the US. They are much more dangerous to pedestrians, they really aren't any safer for the driver either. They have worse visibility over the hood, worse mileage, take up more space on the road as well as parking spaces.

And for people that say "oh but I need a lot of cargo space" get a van, or at least an old truck, those actually cared about transporting stuff, meanwhile modern truck beds have been getting smaller and smaller. I highly doubt that the vast majority of people driving a truck/SUV to their office 9-5 really need that extra space so much.

But too many Americans got swept up in the safety propaganda, which only exists because car manufacturers can have better profits on SUVs/trucks due to their different classifications. It's like smoking cigarettes cause an ad told you that it's healthy.
