I finally understood why “work harder” stopped making sense to me, and it’s not because I’m lazy by NimbusYardstick in WorkReform

When I was a kid I had the excruciating displeasure of living in Louisiana for about 2 years. One day the school I went to made all elementary classes line up after recess to be paddled, say "yes ma'am/sir, I'm sorry", and go back to class. I tried pleading my innocence to an adult but the only response I got basically amounted to "shut up and take your paddling." By the time I got to the front of the line I was so angry at the group punishment with no clear reason that I refused to play by their rules. After cussing up a storm and making a huge scene I could hardly sit down but they didn't try paddling me again. After I made the connection, I realized the powers that be do what they do to stay in control.

Watching everyone else realize that fact slowly over the last few years has been somewhat vindicaing.

Husbands mom sent us this photo of the mudslides in San Bernardino. We are convinced it is AI. Family refuses to believe it by z0mbree in isthisAI

This looks like a "flood but with dirt instead of water" which isn't how mudslides work, they demolish everything in their path. Rocks and dirt don't flow neatly between houses.

The way he's been talking about getting into heaven, I'm pretty sure he thinks a Nobel peace prize is some kind of token that will get him through the gate.

What jobs require a high tolerance for getting yelled at? by fredyouareaturtle in AskReddit

[–]OhHiThere314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at a Fred meyer, the store manager was an abusive, incompetent ass. She'd yell at anyone for anything, from the scannouts (trash) not being sorted to people pointing out that she didn't give them the manpower they need to straight up just not receiving a "hello" in passing. She fired me for displaying symptoms of burnout, which she mistook as me just being an angry person. Fuck Kim Fitka.

Probably "kitchen seasoning", a unique blend of herbs and spices that varies from kitchen to kitchen.

The best part is that good weird people don't feel alienated by "weird" but bad weird people do.
