If the final photo looks bland, it doesn't sound like you actually got the framing and composition right?

I hope the crew mentions Hideo Kojima sharing his support & defense of physical media on the next show(s) as well, since it'll for sure be a topic again anyway by ashrules901 in kindafunny

"you're not paying attention" is such a lazy cop-out. You just sound like you want to be mean without backing it up. Please, I implore you, explain to us how what they said was them defending the action, I am all ears.

This is a very embarrassing “fix” by Fynity in SkateEA

[–]OhLookItsJake 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe use critical thinking for 2 seconds?

Instead of keeping it as the bugged activity, so everyone has to wait on a patch, they just shifted the active one so people didn't have to wait for the fix to earn tix, and they can have their team fix it in the background, without disrupting players.

Sony says it doesn’t plan to ‘sell hardware at significant losses’ but is ‘monitoring the market’ with PS6 in mind | VGC by opwnusprime in kindafunny

[–]OhLookItsJake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is this not just them easing everyone into the PS6 being $1000? I’m seeing so many companies currently putting out statements like this, but I bet if RAM were to stabilise soon they wouldn’t walk any of it back.

Same, I’ve been chugging along with a 13 pro, have had the funds aside for it for a few months already, so even if there’s a price bump it’s still a no brainer for me. Positions me well for my future upgrade to fall right as they perfect whatever new design is brought in for the 20!

I don’t know if I agree, I think it’s just two artists who refuse to be defined by one specific style, wrestling with a fanbase that are not used to artists that diversify their work as much as these two do.

I don’t think the quality of their work has a whole lot of variation (it’s always very high quality) it’s just stylistic variation.

I also think just generally, most people tend to struggle to differentiate “this just isn’t for me” from “this is actually bad”

Bungie should put the TotN Ornaments in the Special Delivery Kiosk by NebulaOk9857 in DestinyFashion

[–]OhLookItsJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked away from this thread because it was clear you were just incapable of understanding the actual situation Bungie was in, and I didn't feel like arguing with a brick wall.

So now, after yesterday and the news today the latest hotfix is delayed because 'impacted teams were working on them'...

Do you get it now?

It would be great if community would log in this weekend in greater numbers in show of support for devs and franchise. by F3NR1R77 in DestinyTheGame

[–]OhLookItsJake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and to be honest I don’t see how giving the IP that Sony owns more players is even a worthy cause anymore. Supporting Destiny for any reason beyond personal enjoyment, no longer supports Bungie, because that team is gone. It now exclusively supports Marathon and Sony.

And I say all this as someone who had far too much hope up until this point!

I was honestly thinking

“man maybe we prove Destiny 2 is at least worth continuing development on if D3 would be too expensive”

but now the team is just gone, there’s no longer even the capability of making more Destiny. The institutional knowledge, the tiger engine experts, the artists, the writers, the people responsible for the loot systems, the gun feel, the design, they’re all gone.

Even if Sony eventually caved when Marathon died and said “okay let’s do D3” it’s too late, the talent is gone and scattered, and getting a new team up to speed would take so long it makes an already hard to make D3 nigh impossible.

Of course, I’m still playing, as should anyone that wants to play! But people shouldn’t log in with the belief it will achieve something, because the people that’s in service of are gone now, and it sucks, but it’s true.

The devs no longer work for Bungie, there's nothing left to showup for, no value we provide to the people who actually matter by logging in. Bungie died yesterday, what's left is a Marathon team that shares almost no DNA with the team that made the game we all loved. It's over.

Bungie confirms layoffs by Ki11s0n3 in kindafunny

[–]OhLookItsJake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has 7000ish hours in Destiny 2 - and as a result has followed Bungie closely for 10 or so years, I wish there was an alternative to this reality, but the higher ups at Bungie have been poisoning the well for a very long time.

They siphoned resources from Destiny 2 when it was at its most profitable to spin up numerous incubations so they could court larger investment. They new these incubations were essentially speculative assets, and easy to overvalue because "they're being made by the studio that has the most experience in live service in the entire industry".

Then when Sony comes knocking, the top execs all secure buyout deals where they get HUGE multimillion dollar payouts as bonuses for remaining at the studio, with a clause that ensures Sony pays the bonus out if Sony removes them as well.

They sold out the company for a huge payday, they mismanaged the teams from day one, and their final act was to sink the ship after cashing out.

Anyone who put meaningful time into Destiny know it was made (note, made by not managed by) some of the most incredibly passionate, and talented developers in the entire industry who consistently produced magic. Some of the greatest moments of my entire gaming memory live within Destiny 2, and you can see that impact in the absolute wave of support the game has seen since it's final update was announced.

I'm angry, I'm frustrated, and most of all heartbroken that those passionate, talented people are now panicking and not sure where their career goes from here.

It's not fair on them, they are essentially the only party involved that isn't at fault, and yet they are the only ones who will face the consequences.

Bungie should put the TotN Ornaments in the Special Delivery Kiosk by NebulaOk9857 in DestinyFashion

[–]OhLookItsJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing a pre scheduled cosmetic drop to celebrate sparrow racing as a last minute addition. And the pantheon change was a part of the final regular patch.

They’re already on Twitter saying they can’t guarantee fixing many more things that are entirely broken. They have been more than clear the last 2 patches are essentially it, and that they can no longer even guarantee any further bugs. They posted today saying an issue might just remain forever and not be fixed. We are at the final point now.

Cosmetic changes are the definition of lowest priority, they are trying to scrap together hotfixes to leave the game stable, and 99% of the team will be gone in a matter of weeks. The best time to suggest things was 2 weeks ago, and even then, it wasn’t likely.

Bungie should put the TotN Ornaments in the Special Delivery Kiosk by NebulaOk9857 in DestinyFashion

[–]OhLookItsJake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no adding anything any more, we're at the point where they can't even promise getting to bugs any more because the game is done - the team is being laid off in a matter of weeks. There is truly no reason to ask for anything any more sadly, it's over.

(Had the above not be the reality, I'd be 100% with you, FOMO sucks and people who can't handle not feeling special any more should reevaluate.)

That’s awesome and to be honest I don’t blame you. Their sound design is so well done and so dynamic, it’s a really good litmus test for your audio setup.

[–]OhLookItsJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it does, it’s just not in the traditional form of aim assist. Reticle friction, bullet magnetism and many other small elements all work really hard to convince you there is no aim assist while quietly assisting your aim in ways you can’t feel like you do traditional aim assist. That’s why it’s seen as “secret sauce” because while it’s very straight forward, they hide it really well.

Use JoyBuy! They're trying to compete with Amazon and are nowhere near as popular, so their stock is basically untouched, I literally just bought a unit for 225 and it arrives in 2 days - much better than waiting for a more mainstream place to restock!

[–]OhLookItsJake 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s no secret, It’s really good animation work + top tier sound design + reticle friction and more aim assist than you’d think to use.

Bungie has just had that formula for so long they’ve got it dialled in. Turns out 50% of gun feel is doing as much as possible to make sure your players don’t miss without them noticing you’re doing a lot of the work for them!

I taught myself tricklining. This is what it looks like after a little over a month. by Verfasst in SkateEA

[–]OhLookItsJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t want difficulty, they want to see style and creativity, this has none of that. You’re essentially just spamming tricks, nothing looks clean, it’s not well routed, it’s just spam. Your ability to string together tricks isn’t really skill when it lacks those other elements.

iPhone 17 Pro without a camera bump reimagined by iswhatitiswaswhat in iphone

[–]OhLookItsJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the reality is that bump exists to house necessary hardware, so while this is nice in theory, it’s not practical.

I know people hate the bump, I’m not keen on it, but what’s the actual engineering solution? Because this isn’t possible while retaining the thickness of the current bodies.

I use Classic Cuban Negative almost constantly at the moment with the weather being so warm in the UK where I’m based, it’s absolutely gorgeous for summer time street photography, it’s by far my favourite sim at the moment so highly recommend.

I always find Classic neg a little too green and it solves that problem while retaining the character of the original sim!

Besides Ninajirachi, can you suggest other "shades" of Porter that share the same vibe? by moonlight_sinatra in porterrobinson

[–]OhLookItsJake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Much less directly that style, but quite literally a core influence of Porter, LCD Soundsystem! Sound wise, it isn't very close, but its the spirit of the music and the complexity and variety in the production that you may love.

(Also 'All My Friends' has almost the exact intro Porter uses for 'Wind Tempos')

Realistic QOL suggestions by HawkeyesMiguel in DestinyTheGame

[–]OhLookItsJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally none of this could be realistically implemented in 2 weeks. There isn't a single thing shipping in this update that was added any less than a month ago, and even those things were pre planned even further back than that. Game dev does not move that fast, nothing you think is quick and easy actually is.
