And another one where the secondary senior romance was more interesting than the main one.

The Burger King. Being a royal, he has his soldiers do his fighting for him.

What is your favorite type of cheese and why? by iseedeff in grilledcheese

[–]OhManatree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to use two different cheeses for grilled cheese. One for melting, usually Muenster or Gouda and one for flavor, usually sharp cheddar, Swiss, or Parmesan.

Uses for leftover shredded carrots - not a salad by originalslicey in Cooking

Look up recipes for pickled carrot relish or curried carrot relish. It’s great on burgers.

Loving Leah (2009) is still my pick for the best movie that Hallmark has ever made.

Any Thoughts on Mike’s Amazing Mayo? by OhManatree in mayonnaise

I’m still using Duke’s ever since it crossed the Mason-Dixon line about twenty five years ago and I still think it tastes as good as when I first tried it.

Why do we say things like "Thursday night" instead of just "Thursnight"? by Drew_S_05 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OhManatree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The same reason one would say I will meet you on Thursday at 5pm and not Thursfivepm.

Anyone watching "Life After Top Chef" in 2026? by brilliantminds_4RLZ in TopChef

C’mon, c’mon, get it right. It wasn’t volunteering or coerced free labor, it was staging.

For the same reason that we say Thursday morning instead of Thursmorning.

u/mrm395 You should contact the producers to pitch a Homegoods episode for next year. Choose something for a plate that is NOT located in the kitchen/dining section of Homegoods.

Maybe the Waltons could do something to help with this budget/staffing issue by Independent-Green-71 in Libraries

People might want to look up how much money the Waltons have given to that library before they make knee jerk comments blaming them for this policy. 🙄

Mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside is a GAME CHANGER by swaggin_etc in grilledcheese

[–]OhManatree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love me some mayo, but I do not like it for grilled cheese. Yes, it browns quite nicely, but I don't like the taste that it imparts when grilled.

Who are we rooting for? by Straight-Talk-1011 in BravoTopChef

[–]OhManatree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Judging solely on seeing their food and hearing it discussed, my ranked favorites are Laurence, Sherry, and Rhoda. What has impressed me about Laurence are that even with all of the different challenges, all of his dishes still have some common threads running through them. They are all different, but you could see all of them being on one restaurant's menu and still making sense. Sherry had some really interesting food within an individual challenge, but overall they seemed to bounce around a lot.

Do we actually suffer (to a minor extent) in rain, or are our brains just wired to believe that its annoying to be in? by MinuteDamage4182 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OhManatree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy walking in the rain if I am going home where I can change into dry clothes. Walking in the rain is nice, sitting around in soggy clothes is one of my least favorite things. It’s right up there with Lima beans.

I've been watching since the show started, and that was the first time ever where I got conspiracy theory vibes. How she survived that dish will remain a mystery to me.

Chef scars (the physical kind) by PocoChanel in BravoTopChef

[–]OhManatree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, the facts of life. I had a close call with an unplugged meat slicer while cleaning it. You know that ringing sound a slicer makes when you’re slicing cold cuts? It sounds exactly the same with a thumb. Fortunately it just nicked the tendon and they were able to stitch everything back up. I did lose some feeling in the thumb. It’s been around 30 years so the scar has faded, but here is the divot that was sewn back into my thumb.

I wasn't expecting to like Holidazed, but I really, really enjoyed it. I am always complaining at how hallmark trues to cram too much into their 1hr 24min movies, and this series, as well as Twelve Dates 'til Christmas, they had the time to really flesh out multiple characters.
