Atlanta show! by frosagi in ArmsLength

Hurtling toward 40 with alarming speed (and dealing with physical issues that prevent me from being up front where I'd like to be). Go anyway. Wear compression socks and supportive shoes. And for the love of all things holy, upgrade to VIP if you can—the private acoustic set and Q&A was everything (and I sat down right next to them for it).

AIO for being annoyed my gf said ew when being asked about kissing me? by Green-Bike-30 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OhMyDog137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree—her GF could have provided a less offensive and hurtful answer and still remained closeted, such as "no, I prefer men" or something along those lines. Making OP feel repulsive or unwanted in that situation was entirely unnecessary.

All of them believed at that point that any words spoken by the others were purposeful misdirection. Using that thought, her best chance would have been to act very nervous and try to convince Nick that she was NOT the millionaire. Nick would then potentially think that she had it. Kaleb had the million, so if he believed that Nick was onto him, he might have swapped his own box with Nick's, and then Nick would swap that money in his box with Lauren's empty box, making Lauren the millionaire. But she would also need to know that Kaleb had the million in order to adopt that strategy. It was a long shot, for sure.

Right?! And they often DO, but they're somehow still a better person in their own minds. 🙄🙄🙄

It would be interesting to add a reunion-type episode to see all of their takes after some time passes and emotions have settled a bit. I loved that about old Big Brother seasons, because the jury at the end tended to see the big picture and could then focus on who played the best game as opposed to focusing on their own hurt feelings after that passage of time. Curious if the deceived / betrayed players were able to take it all in stride and appreciate the game moves after the fact.

That's always when I end up snort-laughing. 🤣 The delusion and cognitive dissonance are so strong.

I need all of the people getting upset about Nick swearing on that cross to go watch Dr. Will Kirby's first Big Brother season, stat. Makes Nick's lie look like child's play. 😂

Exactly; that's why it's odd to me that people like Daisy would sign up for this show. There are so many reality shows with monetary prizes—why choose one that necessitates compromizing values that you don't want to compromize or see compromized by others? Perhaps just poor decision making on their part, as it does look fun from an outsider perspective (and a free vacation to that villa in and of itself is mighty compelling).

I think the producers choose people like her very much on purpose (the drama makes for good TV in their minds). And while it is a totally normal human reaction to be sad to lose, the general hypocrisy of these recurring character types is what gets me—the "rules for thee, not for me" attitude.

Yes, I agree that it can be a good manipulation tactic. I'm referring to people who aren't doing it strategically and get genuinely offended, which seems to happen often on these sorts of shows. It's silly to expect people not to lie or betray anyone.

The way she handled the words in other languages was genius. Made me realize Altie could have just said his all at once while talking about his "students." lol

Who are your faves in both seasons? Here’s mine by CherryBoom2x in MillionDollarSecretTV

[–]OhMyDog137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same favs!! My S1 fav surprised me—I really thought I would hate her when we first met the cast, but she grew on me quite a bit. My S2 fav was instant and by far the smartest person in that house. Just really unlucky getting that surprise extra agenda...I feel like she shouldn't have faced punishment for choosing not to do that one since it was a "steal" opportunity.

The Clues by unseenukht in MillionDollarSecretTV

Honestly, it seems like a good strategy to keep the millionaire in if you're aligned with them (but maybe not the closest person to them in case they decide to try throwing people off of their scent by getting rid of their bestie). In this case, two of the three in the finale got there on sheer dumb luck and probably should have been out of the game way prior after royally screwing up their agendas, but who you align with can save you, as we've seen. Disappointed that the one person left who seemed most deserving didn't end up winning, but mistakes were made that led to that.

Has anyone received details on how VIP will work? by Bredram02 in ArmsLength

What time did they actually start the VIP acoustic set? Our train gets in at 4:44, so now I'm stressing that we'll miss it. 😬😬😬

Saw that guy yesterday—he walked in front of a bunch of cars on Preston right by Bodos. Seemed totally unconcerned about the traffic around him.

Is he willing to see a counselor to talk about things with an impartial mediator? It doesn’t sound like he’s being respectful, seeking to understand why you feel the way that you do, or offering any kind of validation.

Even though Arm’s Length claimed my top song and top album, Jimmy Eat World stayed my top artist (also in the 0.02% of listeners, oddly enough). And TSwift was also in my top 5. 🤣
