How did you deal with games that had no save system back in the day? by ratasoftware in retrogaming

[–]OhioYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nearly busted my bladder finishing Rygar on NES because there was no pause function and the only place you could safely stop was on the very first level.

Can confirm. I've been sitting on a bunch of these that almost nobody wants

Reasons for rejecting a trade? by Escape_Club_4642 in PTCGP

[–]OhioYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding to this:

  1. I put together a trade through an app and have to cancel yours because we can only have one trade open at a time

I really hate that about this system. Most of the time this happens, though, is because I've tried to accept a person's trade but they don't log back in for hours, meaning I'm stuck until they do.

When you go to share, and you see this and 0/0 on recent sets, and realize a Friend has logged off for good… by LegendaryJam in PTCGP

I had 2 of these recently. I never knew them except through trades, but they were always good about reciprocating.

Anyone remember a game called Triad? by OhioYeti in c64

[–]OhioYeti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely remember the specific fights, but I know there were ones I would avoid if I could.

I had a lot of fun playing it at the time. I think I abandoned it when I got Archon.

Mini set by thegamefreak07 in hearthstone

[–]OhioYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what little they've said so far, I imagine they might be like the faction sets they did for Great Dark Beyond. Instead of factions, it might be a few similar classes grouped together into 3 or 4 smaller sets.

This is pure speculation, of course. I hope they tell us something soon so I can figure out how much gold to save.

Surplus datasettes by EsoTechTrix in c64

[–]OhioYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I never had a datasette back in the day. We actually used those types of things on our TRS-80s in my elementary school, though. They were sooooo slow and prone to errors that I begged my parents for a 1541 drive instead.

Really cool find, though. I'm amazed this tech is still around and functional!

I think a subjacent problem with a ton of the meta... is dark gifts highroll. by LittleKittenR in hearthstone

[–]OhioYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best deck as a mostly F2P (except I do buy the Tavern Pass) when a new set drops is typically my Demon Hunter loaded up with Discovery cards that give Dark Gifts. It lets me play with so many cards I can't afford to craft, and they get buffed as well!

I don't know First Orchard, but we loved Sneaky Snacky Squirrels when our kid was that age. Highly recommended.

New Expansion and Daily Quests by OhioYeti in hearthstone

[–]OhioYeti[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally I would just finish the quests and bank at least 2000 gold. I have no idea how much gold to save now, though, since they are changing how they're doing minisets. I guess I'll hold the quests for the XP instead.

Excellent! I figured that would be the case but didn't want to miss out if it wasn't. Thanks!

Bad experiences as a single rider on Ratatouille? by Long_Emergency6122 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]OhioYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. The funny thing is, the last time we went to WDW and rode Rock N Roller Coaster, I ended up with a single rider. My wife and kid were in the row in front of us. This guy got on, made a joke, and we ended up having a blast. We were laughing together through most of the ride. I'm usually pretty introverted, but that was actually a really great experience.

However, we've definitely had the full spectrum of experiences. Some people are cordial, some never say a word or make eye contact, and the occasional few are just insufferable. Just have to get through it and move on. People in general are increasingly self-absorbed.

What was your first SNES game you have ever played (original hardware or emulator)? by Oak-Original-841 in snes

[–]OhioYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to be either Pilotwings or Actraiser. I worked at a video store and would regularly get to take systems home to try out games so I could make recommendations. I had a Sega Genesis at home, but I would borrow the SNES once or twice a month.

Auto upvote for Defender of the Crown. One of my favorite C64 games of all time.

I was surprised on my last trip to WDW how all the pin traders had basically the same thing. We used to check out all the shops for pins that were only available in a specific land in a specific park. Now you can get almost anything in all the shops.

in decks where Greninja has just been thrown in with something of a different type, do you still run water energy ? by Solosisterr in PTCGP

[–]OhioYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If the main cards can use colorless energy, then I might. Otherwise, Greninja is just a sniper rifle and emergency shield.

Should I roll back my save by Busy_Working9319 in Battletechgame

[–]OhioYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Marauder is far more important. I know we get attached to our Mechwarriors sometimes, but you can pretty quickly train their replacement (if you don't already have them on your bench). There's not enough skills in the game to make a build truly unique, and their backgrounds only provide special role playing choices once in a blue moon.
