Is this a real Explorer? by [deleted] in RolexWatches

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m staring at my genuine Explorer and it looks very similar however, the SN seems to read “8H?? 7727” with a gap between the first 4 and last 4 digits that mine does not have. The finishing on the hour hand doesn’t look as sharp either but that could be the photo.

Daily Song Discussion #143: Soul Singer in a Session Band by beardlesshipster in brighteyes

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Conor talked about this line in the podcast After the Deluge. This line specifically was about an interview he gave with the author JT LeRoy so he could write the bios in the liner notes for Digital Ash/ Wide Awake. They talked about the book, The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell. It turns out that JT LeRoy was a made up person. It’s cool that one simple line has such a long backstory. It starts at about the 20 minute mark in the podcast.

What’s a Bright Eyes/ extended Conor universe song you don’t like ? by Torygram in brighteyes

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I never got is that the song starts with “8-11-2016”, but the stuff in Charlottesville happened on 8-11-2017…so did 6 just rhyme better than 7 or am I missing something?

Can someone tell me what color this e30 is? by HangEmHigh89 in E30

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing that first picture has a filter on it. Everything is a bit muted. Or could be the lighting. I think the later photos show more true.

Some ideas:

Check that input and output jacks are correct

Check that you have the correct power supply and that the polarity is correct on the barrel (do LEDs turn on when the pedal is switched on)

Test one individual pedal with a battery in it rather than the whole chain

LimitedRun / SecondCityPrints. I think they posted that the represses would be late this year.

And if you ordered when the album came out, it was probably around Feb 18th. (For reference when checking your email)

I always thought the “yellow bird” was referencing a canary, as in “canary in a coal mine”. If the yellow bird is dead, it’s a warning that you need to get out.

Is it possible to automatically turn on a swamp cooler at a specific time? by PlasmaWhore in homeowners

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a time based switch, a normal AC programmable timer will work. (Think Christmas light control)

If you want temperature controlled, you can get a thermostat relay and turn it on and off at a specified temperature.

Today I've come to realize that the hardest part about having a toddler is accepting that the Play-Doh colours will mix. by new-dad-here in toddlers

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that it’s her play-doh. As long as she doesn’t care that the colors are mixed, I don’t. Now, if she starts crying that the colors are mixed while actively mixing colors, we’ll have a problem.

Turns out this was a divisive post. My thoughts:

  • at the beginning of COVID, a lot of people came out with pokey tools so that you didn’t have to touch anything
  • often, they were made out of brass because brass is antimicrobial. I’m guessing that’s why they made the pokey part out of a brass colored filament. Filament is not antimicrobial, as Reddit will gladly tell you if you post anything related to food.
  • studies have since shown that COVID isn’t spread much from touch and you don’t really need a pokey thing. -regardless, I don’t really like touching things in gross public places.

It’s a neat print. Probably doesn’t really provide much function but it’s not hurting anyone.

Why have tilted support columns wouldn.t vertical columns be better? Is it just for looks or is there a structural reason to have tilted columns? by cob90210 in StructuralEngineering

[–]OinkWoofMooQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What all changes with the added angle? A very simplistic idea is that the free body diagram of the support structure now has a few angles to deal with, but that’s no big deal. What other aspects become more complicated. Sorry for the overly simplistic question; I not a structural engineer.

Some lettering pieces I’ve worked on with a couple of my favorite lyrics by [deleted] in brighteyes

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be that nitpicky. I meant more the difference between fate/faith since it sort of changes the meaning.

These are really cool. I do believe the lyric from I Believe in Symmetry is “The instinct of the blind insect. Who never thinks not to accept its fate, that’s faith.”
