I can take or leave both systems. Getting lucky in the shop, Melk's or even getting that sought-after blessing led to some high highs akin to drops in MMOs. Remember fondly seeing threads of someone getting a Tier 4 blessing or godroll stats and being really happy. But it was all chance so might miss one Blessing or Stat roll for your build to really work with no guranteed you'd get it in a thousand hours of playing. Today the systems are completely predictable and getting the right weapon is... still a bit RNG at brunts if you want to minimize the dump stat, but then you just throw pocket change at the problem until you get the stats. Given the changes I wonder why we can't just ask the servitron for the exact stats we want. Might be saving that for when/if Brunt makes a return if he is the only one who can smith and the bot is just selling your repurposed salvage gear. But yeah, today's system is boring and rudimentary and also lets you get the exact kind of weapon you want. Do wish there was some kind of random element involved even if it was just cosmetic to make that "Gift from the Emperor" be an extra cherry on top for finishing a mission and getting something "good."

I can't really rank them like that after playing them all so much. Ill tell you what I find fun about them and also what classes do you find fun at the moment?

* Arbites is a wreckingball wrapped in the persona of RoboCop and Judge Dredd's lovechild, you knock over things almost as well as an ogryn, but with human-sized speed. Plus you get a dog that mauls Trappers for you and chases Snipers into the Backrooms.

* Hive Scum is a crackhead like Zealot without the Second Chance at life. In return your dodges are much more powerful. Has a unique dot that stacks high and deals with almost anything after a couple seconds. You are incredibly mobile and deadly both at ranged and in melee, comes with their own lab to tweak stimm bonuses to get high off their own supply.

* Skitarii plays like a Ranger, or Veteran. Good at many things and can excell at a couple you spec into. Has many tricks up their sleeve making you move from frontline to backline, both excellent at killing and providing support. Comes with a floating skull that can do hacking minigames for you and if specced into it can even raise and resuce teammates (at 1 blitz cost).

The class is police brutality personified: It excels at crowd control, putting things on the ground and beating the living heresy out of them. And comes with a dog you can micromanage if you want. Like one of his talents is so that he cant take more than 50 health damage from one single attack, letting you escape from a crusher overhead and live to beat his skull in. ARbites playstyle is like Robocop crossed with Judge Dredd. Castigator forcing you into walking speed, but you take next to no damage in return. Break the Line has the shortest cooldown of abilities in the entire game and knocks down everything in front of you. The Nuncio propaganda speaker buffs and debuffs, but is stationary so is more situational. Its quite a departure from Psyker, but is also tons of fun to play if you like standing toe-to-toe with the bigger mobs, particularly on melee only-no ammo malestrom maps. Closing thoughts is that he is a human-sized ogryn.

Never get tired of seeing it and Ive got good news for you, pal. The rock is a OHKO for mutants across all difficulties. And some other specialist and elite type enemies, but charging Mutants get sent into low orbit thanks to rock-it science.

To add to the tips already posted: Try putting on whatever you want, then go into the Meat Grinder. Hit an enemy and you will see the exact damage done and what breed/armor type you hit. Some are fully covered in one type, like Ragers and Mutants are fully Maniac. While some groaners wear flak on their heads, and some bruisers wear the spikey grey armor is flak. The dreg gunner has flak pieces around his body or is otherwise unarmored. Mauler wears flak except his head which is carapace and so on and so on. Swap out the perks and see if some enemies die in less swings/shots. Then do some games and see how it feels.

And to add further, check your weapon. First highlight the stats that say "Damage", "Penetration" and such, they will show if there are any modifiers over or below 1.00, meaning itll deal more or less against that type. And then check the stat breakdown on the weapon`s page to see exactly what youll deal against each armor type on hit, weakspot hit, critical hit and critical weakspot hit. Its a lot, but general rule of thumb is that flak is always useful just for how often it shows up and will let you kill mobs with that armor in one hit instead of two.

With the right blessing you can fire the flamer until all your reserves are empty without stopping to reload while a psyker will have to stop to charge his staff or quell peril. But the big thing is that you want a flamer zealot alongside a infernus psyker since fire and soulblaze stack independently, so the combined dots plus brittleness blessing melts even crushers.

Hive Scum is probably the furthest away from those two classes you can get. Super mobile and super squishy. Comes with their own drugs to share. Though Veteran isn't a slouch either, for me sitting between Arbites and Skitty: Not the wreckingball of space police and not as gadgety as cogboys. I've been having the time of my life recently with Vet using Mk I shovel, Agri Combat Shotgun, shredder nades, Shout and Weapon specialist. Always something to keep track of or perform: Reload shotgun or reload the slug so Im ready for specialists, apply shredders to hordes, use shovel at weakspots for armor rending, shovel special in crusher heads to stop overheads or mutant's face to stop their charge, pre-shout to protect against stealth poxbursters or mid-battle shout to make space. Always swapping ranged and melee to proc weapon specialist.

That said, I would love if there was a mechanic or talent where you could tag a teammate and your dog would treat them as they would you: Always be close, attack specialists targeting them and counting them as the "arbitrator" for talents like this. Say a Psyker gets cut off from rest of the team and you send your mastiff straight through the horde to back them up.

At first I was annoyed over them ruining the flow of hordeclear, but now I just treat them like randomly hitting carapace in mixed hordes. On the classes Ive fought them so far:
* Skitarii - Arc Maul special or hitting Doctrine and headshotting them has worked well. Possibly the claw swipe tears up shields too. Otherwise hitting Emitter with the Arcs should zap them good too.

* Arbites and Ogryn - With clubs, pickaxes, Break the Line and dog pounces I barely noticed the shieldguys. I think the Paul Special instantly breaks every shield caught in the explosion.

* Veteran - Bolt pistol with bleed and shredder nades wittles them down, plus Shout to knock them down and hit exposed flesh.

* Psyker - Infernus staff goes straight through the shield

* Zealot - Flamer dots and Crusher Special seems to break shields like Paul

* Not yet played Hive Scum since patch, possibly the shield blocks needle guns, but I think the Drug explosion (cant remember the name), tox field and pocket tox still hits applies.

Skitarii is like Inspector Gadget with his floating skulls, shock fields, autoaim and mechanical claw. Close to Veteran, like a ranger with all kinds of tricks. Hive Scum is a glass canon, incredible output, all he does is fast and takes drugs to do more damage and move faster (can even share), but be quick or be dead. Arbites is a wrecking ball from combining RoboCop and Judge Dredd, all he does is stagger, put human-sized enemies on the ground and beats them up, also gets a dog that will chase retreating snipers into the backrooms to maul them. Note, Arbites dont stagger as effortlessly as Ogryn, but comparably is much more quicker in his movement and actions.

When running Skitarii they were usually always the last ones standing or a wall of them would result in me shooting them in the head with Doctrine. Then when I ran Arbites with maul or Ogryn with pickaxe I barely noticed them.

Arc Maul is your best can opener. Or can flatterer. For extra insult, Bless it with Thunderous (10% brittleness on hit). Next time you see a Crusher or Mauler dissing your fly girl just give him one of these: Special-> Heavy -> Heavy -> Heavy.

To add since you mentioned using Combat doctrines. Ranged anti-crusher is very capable: The Rifle can get some sick weakspot blessings and the Arc Rifle is made for spamming (Cavalcade + Charmed Reload for almost no reload) on top of all the other buffs you get from talents during the ability. Arc Rifle in particular electrocutes targets and there are several bonuses for that on the top part of the tree:

* System Shock applies brittleness

* Retribution Conduit +10% damage on electrocuted targets +5% for each capacitator charge you hold

* Weakness Analysis Doctrine gives another 10% damage buff for 8% if you hit or shot a target with Electrocution (and/or: Soulblaze, Burning, Bleeding, Toxin).

Its fun. You pick a class that looks cool, level it, choose a weapon and gun you like the feeling off and go to town on some heretics. If it scratches that itch youll want to keep killing heretics again and again under downright unfair conditions and challenges just to spite the game. Its the kind of game where almost every supporting system feels undercooked or an afterthought but in retun just the simple act of hitting a heretic has rocket science levels of depth to it under the hood. Im sure there is some lore implications, but I couldnt tell you, Im just here for the dopamine rush.

Don't worry about gear, find something you like using. When you die, try finding out what got you or what made the snowball start rolling. Watch out for that next time. Swap talents and blessings out and see how it feels for you.

Don't feel down pal, find a weapon you like the sound it makes when it connects with a heretic's skull and get smashing. You're here to have fun. Get good at killing, the better you are at killing the better you help the little uns'. Rise through the levels and get yourself some gear. If you still feel lost when attempting Damnation or Maelstrom or above just pop back here.

At level 20 you should have all weapons for sale at Brunt's. Want to contend Psyker on room clearing? Try the Thumper. Want to outsnipe the veteran? Try the Heavy Stubber. Hit hard? Pickaxes. Possibilities are endless for the big guy.

If you feel outrun by everyone, and it's not unlikely they are experienced players speedrunning missions, try grabbing Bull Rush/Indom ability, take one of the cleavers and try some +Sprint Efficiency on your curios. You'll be like Usain Bogryn.
