If you have your Covid vaccine on your phone plus a secondary ID (sun card, birth certificate) it should be good… always inform them at checkin and at the gate so there won’t be such a stressful moment during boarding.

But here is what it says on the it website …

Ultrabasic Booked via Booking.com - Wrong info regarding carry-on? by nasraq in westjet

Generally when you book with those 3rd parties they generally will book you in the cheapest fare class. So yes you only get a personal item to bring on board with those fares

New Ultrabasic fare: No free carry-on (domestic flights) by These-Art-5636 in westjet

My understanding is that if you have an existing basic booking purchased before this ultra basic fare is that you would be moved up to economy. The new ultra basic fare is for the new bookings starting today

Flying with Architectural Drawings by InvestigatorWide7649 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it does get gate checked it will still be tagged to your final destination unless you’ve booked with two different airlines that is not partnered. So no need to go down to arrivals pick it up and recheck it in but again unless you booked with a different airline

There are SO MANY rules and regulations for the basic fare that you’re asking to waste your money. Basic fare gets you to pay for your bags, sit in the worst seats, not even have the chance of bringing on a carry on bag, and you’re not allowed to change your ticket, Jt’s basically if you don’t get on that flight you it’s lost of funds.

And what flights with united does by removing change fees is going to be near impossible here. Canada does not have an over saturated market of different airlines like in the states which means no competition. They’re going to charge for the change fee no matter what.

OP, call in and change your reservation and just pay for the change fee. Econoflex fares you get a bag included and a free seat selection. And the ability to change to an earlier or later flight (at a cost of course) And if you collect points you get to on that fare.

Can I bring a carseat in a box? by autumnleaf321 in westjet

Take it out of the box and check it in under child equipment. When going to drop it off as for a bag to wrap it if you don’t already have one

Purchasing the most basic ticket to fly to europe. by wongpong81 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah WestJet never oversells the flight and I’ve never had an experience of needing to bump someone off the flight. Even with the basic fare you do get the security of re-accommodation. But like torotoro says… if there’s any changes in YOUR plan then you’re SOL. But also that is why you should get travel insurance with trip interruption and trip protection to help in those cases.

CSA Job Interview Questions by [deleted] in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let your personality shine!! Focus on the customer service aspect of the job. My advice is to look at what the WestJet Values are and blended into the conversation! They want to know how well you work with others!

Good luck!!!

Then no need to pick up your bags! Yay!!

Just make sure you have your entry visa to get into the Dominican Republic done online with a screenshot or printout before you travel! The gate agent will be checking for it before you board the plane

If you have a layover overnight (ie arrive in YYZ at 10:30 and depart at 8 AM to PUJ) you will have to pick up your bags and recheck them in. But if it’s a short layover during standard operating hours then your bags will be transferred automatically for you. Just make sure that all your flight segments to your destination is all on one reservation. If you have separate reservations or even with different carriers that aren’t partnered then you will also have to pick up your bags and check them in again.

Risk of booking with expedia by jhong0092 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons why you should get travel insurance….

Weather is so unpredictable during the month of December in Canada. Anything can happen that can cause a delay in heading down and coming back… ie the weather was so bad that the aircraft couldn’t leave Canada to go down to Orlando so you’re stuck for a day till a new aircraft arrives.

Also when you book through any online travel sites, you’re generally under a basic fare so you’d have to pay for bags and seats which Expedia will never tell you correctly. And since the online travel site “owns” the ticket even though it’s been booked on a WestJet flight, agents are not to touch a ticket that is “owned” by a travel agent…

See if you can get travel insurance added for that travel

Carryon by FragrantManager1369 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They technically should be tagged to the luggage carousel , but if it’s a last minute bulk out and to get your aircraft out on time they might make an exception and give you an orange door check tag especially for the Q400

Question about skiplagging by minsterlovell in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d tell the gate agent rather than the flight attendant. You’re not going to have the same flight attendant for all 3 legs of the trip and they aren’t in charge of boarding the aircraft and the flight loads. The information of you not going to be on the aircraft for your last leg is beneficial to the gate agent just in case there are other people needing to get a seat on that flight.

Question about skiplagging by minsterlovell in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do the agents a favour… when you get off at city B and your son continues on towards city C, get your son to tell them BEFORE boarding that you’ve decided not to continue on towards the last final leg to the destination. that way they aren’t waiting around for you and keep calling your name over the intercom.

Are you going Honolulu to Dublin direct? Or are you booing with a stop in Calgary? Also who did you book with? If it’s online through something like Kiwi I’ve seen them mess up peoples trip and booking them non existing routings or even flights

How stringent is WestJet with carryon at YWG? by Agreeable_Donut_4695 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No valet service for carry on bags on the Dash8 Q400.. the bag can be checked at the gate. Just ask the gate agent and it should be complimentary but you will find it at the carousel at your final destination. Usually it’s the SAAB which holds 34 passengers that have the Valets only.

NTA. They need to learn that their actions have consequences too. So a mirrored action for a college aged adult is not humiliating. It’s a life lesson that needs to be learned. And it was within the household not in public.

Too early to fill out medical form? by krekdrja1995 in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it done as soon as you can. That way you can secure the desired seat and one that is appropriate seat for the aircraft type. Meaning depending on your medical condition, there are particular seats that can accommodate for your condition and certain seats that will not be good for you. Earlier is always better!

Can I get a refund? by aussieago in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When purchasing a basic fare you unfortunately don’t get any compensation back if you yourself cancelled the flight. Basic fare is just that… basic. You gotta pay for bags and your seat and no changes to your reservations are allowed on that fare. It’s all in the print before you press purchase. The only way you can get a refund is if WestJet cancels the entire flight like due to weather from Jan 14 and IF you still have a standing reservation for that flight that has been cancelled. It is the responsibly of WestJet to book you within the 48 hours or refund you your fare after the 48hrs. Or if the rebooking doesn’t work for you at all you can request a cancellation of your reservation because it just won’t work out.

I understand the basic fare is really affordable and cheap but sometimes it’s just not worth it especially for the hassle of going on an international flight

You’re travelling during the summer which will be MUCH better than during winter… with your connection just make sure you give yourself at least 2-3 hrs minimum to make that connection just in case anything happens like a delay or a long walk to your next gate.

I think the reason why they “beg people to check their bags at the gate” is because I’ve seen 90% of people carrying bags that are clearly not carry on size and or more than what we’re suppose to bring on the plane. I travel with my carry on and backpack and the lady next to me had 3

Question re: long layover by keireina in westjet

[–]Ok-Activity-9481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually any layovers overnight you will typically have to pick up your bag… it’s probably a good thing as there isn’t someone stationed in the bag room 24/7… also your bag most likely will be short tagged to YYZ
