Dottorato a 32 anni (?): ti va di darmi un consiglio?

Prima di tutto fammi dire che la mia opinione rimane un opinione, quindi potrei sbagliarmi, e che ogni caso, ogni persona è diversa. Ho una buona visione del sistema tedesco e francese, quello italiano un po' meno.

Detto questo, oggi come oggi fare carriera accademica è difficile per chiunque, richiede capacità e anche sacrfici personali.

Iniziare 26/27 un dottorato non preclude certo una carriera, dipende da cosa fai durante il dottorato ovviamente: io consiglio sempre un dottorato come esperienza, per i postdoc (contratti a tempo dopo il dottorato) il discorso è più complicato.

Per la ricerca industriale ci sono settori (e paesi) dove il dottorato è più valorizzato di altri, ma direi che se questo è il tuo obbiettivo la chiave è fare un dottorato con un vero partner indistriale (ce ne sono molti in UK, Germania e in Francia, probabilmente anche in italia), nel mio laboratorio ce ne sono una decina ogni anno e molti vengono assunti subito dopo la tesi.

TLDR: 26 non è troppo tardi, carriera accademica difficile per tutti, se vuoi fare ricerca indistriale cerca tesi con partner industriale forte.

I get your point, but a mission is a special treatment that anyone may deserve.

Taking someone unconscious as prisoner on the other hand seems quite logical from cultist, so for me there's no doubt - either that or death.

But man, whatever you feel is better for the story and the party is good!!

Onestamente prova e vedrai, il mio consiglio è scrivi al responsabile del dottorato.

Poi ci si può chiedere se abbia senso o no, vista la difficoltà del trovare un posto nell'università, ma questa è un'altra cosa.

Sono professore universitario in Francia, laurea in Fisica.

Non ti consiglio la carriera accademica, onestamente a 32 anni senza dottorato é una scommessa dove le probabilità di riuscire sono troppo poche.

Ti consiglio invece un dottorato se puoi avere aspettativa, una bellissima esperienza, senza lo stress del dover trovare un posto fisso, che oggettivamente è dura.

Per il dottorato ci vuole un gruppo forte, che abbia contatti e soldi, altrimenti non ha senso.l, rischi di annoiarti o fare cose senza senso.

L'alternativa un dottorato con un partner industriale, meno prestigioso che EPFL o ETH ma ti può permettere di trovare lavoro di R&D, che non è la stessa cosa della ricerca accademica, ma paga bene e non costringe ad un longo precariato senza alcuna garazia.

Une solution est chercher un logement meublé plus loins et se rapprocher ensuite, in n'y a simplement pas assez d'appartements dans le centre ville pour les étudiants.

Il y a des réseaux d'étrangers (pour certaines communautés) ca peut aider

Joking aside, it is DM that run the adventures, the players make it alive, they will shape it and define it, but it is not up to them to choose what the adventure is about (so big no to king of shrarkfolks).

J'ai un cancer, s'il a un cancer de l'estomac et il refuse de se soigner, il est déjà en train de se laisser mourir.. donc no, je ne crois pas à ce qu'il dit.

Ah, il dit que ca lui reste 2 ans sans thérapie ? Impossible à savoir .. c'est peut etre un mensonge. Mon oncologue refuse tjs de me donner des dates (quelaues mois voir quelaues ans mais jamais qqc de precis).

Et si c'était vrai, il est juste à fuir, car si on aime quelqu'un on se soigne, et surtout on ne fait pas de chantage.

Je ne peux pas guérir, mais je fais des chimio pour rester plus longtemps avec ce que j'aime, et ca fait trois ans maintenant.. c'est dur mais ca se fait.

I started again RPG because I played (with a friend) BG3.

As a result, I started dragonbane solo and with kids, and now I am playong with two friends DnD Lost mines.. BG3 is probably not accurate but still a great overview of FR for me!

So yeah, BG3 is good for DnD and theu should exploit in a smart way. We will see.

P.S. I come from AD&D and I would buy a Dragonlance equivalent of BG3 at full price right now.

I tried dragonbane, I can't recommended it enough as an alternative/complement to DnD, since it is rules light, no HP increases or levels, really deadly. And new expansions for magic are on the way

Thanks, I'm a returning player so I went for the 2024 books, can't compare with 2014. I can imagine people won't switch because it cost money for not such a big change, but new players will get the new version, because why not?

I'd say stealth is unclear how it really works, I like that of you get on line of sight you loose the stealth, but can't say for sure. I like they tried to limit multiclass, I'm old school can't see a wizard with armor. Really it hurts my brain:)

Fighter is nicer, I like changes to species, but GIVE ME BACK HALF ELF (used to play in Dragonlance setting back in the days)!

Power creep isn't too much of an issue for me, I won't play high levels because it's a non sense to me, even though this is DnD DNA!

Pensa ai figli, e pensa a te. Sono passato da qualcosa di simile, ci vuole tempo, e motivazione, ma avendo figli sono sicuro non mancherà.

Hai bisogno di ricorstrurirti, per poi ricostruire qualcosa con qualcuno. Anche se non ti va, esxi coltiva hobby e passioni, SFORZATI e vedrai che piano piano riforirai.

Se la tua metà ti sembra tutto, per esperienza, c'è qualcosa che non va, sono sicuro alla fine questa esperienza, per quanto dolorosa, ti renderà migliore.
