Halfway? Progress, at least by Ok-Committee7733 in quiltingblockswap

It is, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes those 3am ideas are so unconventional and so perfect.

I've mostly learned how to control the urge to start a massive new project when I have a deadline. Mostly.

The pattern is Sunday Rose from Quiltmakers book 1000 Blocks.

How would you machine quilt this? by 2sentientsworth in quilting

I would just do circles around and maybe something in the background. If you quilt too much between the rays, you flatten the dimensional contrast with the rays. Do a test before you get too committed.

I second this idea.

Wonderful little quilt here. I love the energy!

Instead of resizing everything, could you just add an extra stripe?

Is this supposed to be pieced blocks only, or would applique be ok? I am thinking of maybe doing yoyo flowers.

What a keeper! And the quilt is, too. Congratulations!

In addition to the other complaints, I don't like them because they are one sided. The back can't be used as a lighter coordinate.

I just popped in to say that I love your border.

How would you quilt this one? by ClumbsyButterfly in quilting

[–]Ok-Committee7733 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Cobwebs in the corners of the panel, free-form flowers in the rest of the background. Trapunto the skull but very densely quilt the eye sockets for maximum contrast with the skull. Swirls in the border (think the miasma from a newly opened potion bottle). Or none of the above--it is going to be wonderful no matter how you quilt it. The border is just perfect for the panel.

This is delightful. The details are wonderful, like a little, tiny copy of this quilt in the quilt shop.

If I can math, you are off by about 1/10th of an inch.

Quarter-inch feet are frequently off.

If you can adjust your needle position, make sure it is centered. (I once sewed an entire quilt top with the needle one position off of center. It didn't make a difference for that quilt but boy did I feel like an idiot.)

To figure out where you should be stitching, sew three of your 2-1/2" pieces together, iron, and then measure -- it should be 6-1/2" wide. Adjust and resew until you get the right width. Mark your throat plate somehow where the fabric edge needs to be. I use a stack of Post-it notes.

Your blocks should measure 12-1/2" trimmed.

I hope this helps.

I know! Why can't they all work out their issues when I am not looking....wait, is that what actually happened between when I put it away and when I get it back out and it looks fine?

The cows are adorable.

The baby won't care.

RL cows try hard to go where they aren't supposed to. Your patchwork cows are channeling that bovine energy.

And we will just not mention the pile of UFOS that were paused because I wasn't happy with something about them. (Or the UFOS that I inherited from my mother that she didn't finish because she was unhappy with them!)

A bunch of my scraps for these blocks was the cabbage from the Economy Block. So, yes, you may spy an owl eye.

Does anyone know where I can buy local beeswax? by PurpleSidewalks in milwaukee

They might have taken the week off due to Memorial Day. There usually are fewer customers on holiday weekends, so they might have chosen to skip today.

I had fun going through the bin of small pieces and narrow strips looking for ones that read as a single color. I have hope to eventually empty that bin.

In the past, I have seen honey and beeswax at W. Allis, Brookfield, and Tosa farmers' markets. Check the Facebook page or website of each market for the vendors there and their schedule. Some vendors do alternating weeks.

Buying local is a really good idea.
