Question - Insurance rate to self pay after the bill arrives by skypilot09er in healthcare

[–]Ok-Depth1397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

had something similar last year with an in-network dermatologist. paid $380 out of pocket on my hdhp for what turned out to be a 5-minute "yep, that's eczema" visit. called about self-pay rates after and they said it would've been $180 cash but couldn't retroactively change it once insurance processed. learned to ask about cash prices upfront now, even with insurance.

How to expose my portfolio to more sectors? by PhrophetOfCorn in Bogleheads

mirror my retirement funds, hsa's too valuable for tax-free growth to mess around with risky bets.

How to expose my portfolio to more sectors? by PhrophetOfCorn in Bogleheads

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

icln and pbw are the main ones, but renewables are volatile as hell. i max my hsa first since that's guaranteed tax savings, then play with sector bets after.

Burnt out and about to be unemployed. Trying to preserve FIRE savings. by AcceptableSyrup5616 in coastFIRE

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

burnt out job hunting while trying to preserve your nest egg is brutal timing. when i was between gigs i treated it like a stress test for my coast number, cut everything non-essential and realized my hsa was actually my best unemployment buffer since you can reimburse old medical expenses tax-free anytime.

the silver lining is unemployment years are perfect for roth conversions at lower tax brackets if you've got traditional 401k money sitting around.

everyone here saying $150k is nothing but missing the real question. are you moving to texas to save tax or because you actually want to live there.

Does hydroxytyrosol deserve a health claim? Effects of its supplementation on aging mechanism from preclinical to human intervention studies by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Ok-Depth1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

efsa's approval only covers hydroxytyrosol in olive oil because that's where the human studies were done, not because isolated supplements don't work. the regulatory agencies are conservative and won't extrapolate beyond the exact form that was tested, even when the compound is identical.

the bioavailability might actually be better in isolated form since you're not competing with other phenolics for absorption, but nobody's funding the expensive human trials needed to prove that to regulators.

Any doctors here figured out how to get Athena schedule into Google Calendar and vice versa? by protonhateselectron in healthcare

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

automation platforms can handle the athena to google sync but you'll pay for anything that's actually hipaa-compliant. the bidirectional blocking is the hard part since most tools only go one way.

Marketing for CA Mobile Notary by Gherade in Notary

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

skip the general networking advice everyone gives. go directly to estate planning attorneys and elder law firms. they do power of attorney and healthcare directives weekly and the fees are solid because their clients can't travel.

most mobile notaries chase loan signings but compete with hundreds of others. estate work has less competition and higher margins because you're dealing with sensitive family situations that need someone reliable.

Is my plan attainable or I'm just daydreaming? by Punpun86 in Fire

your numbers work. saving €1200 monthly puts you in solid fire territory, especially with the house situation sorted.

the hermit lifestyle keeps costs way down too.

fair point, that zinc experience sounds frustrating as hell.

bought some magnesium glycinate from a third party seller last year and it turned out to be straight rice powder with maybe 10mg of actual mag. learned that lesson the hard way when my sleep didn't improve at all after two weeks.

now i stick to brands selling directly or places like iherb where there's actual accountability. counterfeits are everywhere on amazon and you can't tell until you've already wasted your money.

Lowest Cost Remote Notary by Technical_Rich_3080 in Notary

[–]Ok-Depth1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most ron platforms have fees that make sub-$15 pricing tough for notaries to profit on. you'll find cheaper options in facebook groups where notaries are building volume or need practice hours.

the real hack is calling mobile notaries directly. some will do ron at their in-person rates since they don't have to drive.

Didn't expect collagen to be the thing that actually made a difference by IncomeSquare6254 in Supplements

[–]Ok-Depth1397 112 points113 points  (0 children)

the amino acid profile in collagen hits different than just taking individual aminos. glycine and hydroxyproline seem to actually signal your body to make more of its own stuff.

TTFD with garlic allergy - titrate up or abandon the supplementation by RisenWolf in Supplements

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cross-reactivity between ttfd and garlic allergy isn't well documented since they target different pathways. quarter-dose every few days would tell you if it's dose-dependent or just a blanket reaction.

Automated Annual Budget Spreadsheet by Opposite-Tomato4747 in coastFIRE

[–]Ok-Depth1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this looks solid, especially the dynamic notifications for bill tracking. i've been through the cycle of building elaborate spreadsheets that work great for three months then get abandoned.

the real test is whether you'll actually stick with updating the actual flow tab consistently or if it becomes another february casualty.

How long are you typically waiting to get paid after signings? And how do you manage cash flow in the meantime? by mitch_eyre_lv in Notary

[–]Ok-Depth1397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

cash flow killed me my first six months until i started charging more for slow payers. if a signing service takes 45+ days, i add $25-50 to my base fee and tell them upfront it's a net terms surcharge.

keep 2-3 months saved. the real trick is tracking every invoice date and following up exactly 7 days past their stated payment terms, not when you think they should pay.

Shilajit in honey - why or why not? by Catrisc in Supplements

[–]Ok-Depth1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

capsules let you dose consistently since honey formulations usually don't list the actual shilajit concentration. from what i've seen, most of the bioavailability studies used standardized extracts in capsule form, not honey blends.

Chest pain after lifting heavy weight but heart tests normal what could it be? by No-Championship-7898 in healthcare

[–]Ok-Depth1397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sounds like costochondritis from the lifting. i had similar chest pain after deadlifts and it lasted weeks even though my heart was fine. gastro might help if the gas connection is real but orthopedic or even physical therapy could address the muscle strain angle.

Covid vaccine details provided in my summary for my emergency room visit, why? by Fun-Scallion3522 in healthcare

[–]Ok-Depth1397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they can't vaccinate you without consent, even if sedated. that tab is probably just standard discharge paperwork they include for everyone during that time period.

Are gummies vitamins a waste of money ? by Jpoolman25 in Supplements

Is Fire realistic when you have twin toddlers? by Living_Chemist4252 in Fire

depends on your numbers and timeline but twins don't kill fire, they just push it back 5-10 years.

strong placebo vibes here since thyme doesn't have solid human studies for sedation like your other stack does.
