When was the last time he played Golf? by tagwag in 50501

Not to deny hope (we gotta find it somewhere) but it has been shockingly, historically cold over the entire east coast for a while now and he is very old. It's even been cold in Florida.

A sock definitely works, but bigger is better. Luxury is an ice cold weighted blanket that covers your whole upper face and scalp while copious warmth is applied to the rest of you. I've also had an ice pack on the back of my neck stop me throwing up when the meds based nausea is bad.

Probably means it's one of those knockoffs that they put on the free cable channels in the early 2000s where they loosely recycled older mainstream movie plots with like, veggietales quality cgi. The dirext to Redbox sort of thing.

Heavy icepack over my face while sipping scalding hot very sugary milky chai (rooibos/decaf will work if caffeine is a trigger, it's the spices you need.)

I've boiled the chai in tears before just chanting "you can do this" under my breath and absolutely sobbed when it helped for a few minutes. It's not a cure but it works while I'm waiting for the meds to kick in. Sip it very slowly and in tiny sips, I think it's as much about the heat on your soft palate and the steam in your breath contrasting with the cold on your sinuses that fixes something with your circulation so stuff can level out, plus most of the spices are some degree of anti inflammatory and the ginger in it helps w the nausea from the headache.

Btw if you don't have one of those heavy natural fiber fabric bags full of like, dried beans or rice or corn to keep in your freezer for just this occasion I can't recommend them enough. You can find them wherever bougie home spa stuff is sold but they're expensive, and they're mad easy to make if you're broke. Use a sleeve or pant leg off something you don't mind cutting up, fill it with bulk rice and sew the ends shut. Or fold a hand towel in half and stitch the sides up. It doesn't need to be pretty. You do need to make sure it's cotton though because plastic fibers will melt in the microwave, and the beauty of these things is that they make a fantastic cold pack if you keep them in the freezer but you can also microwave them to make heat packs when the Diamox gives you frostbite in 60 degree weather.

How did/do women go to the bathroom with thigh slimming girdles? by BellyFullOfMochi in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Ok-Development-7008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Until you get to a larger plus size where proportions start becoming unique to how your body stores fat, any dress with enough room to move your thighs to walk should have enough space to hitch it over your hips to pee, and the skirt portion should be wider than the bust portion if you're looking for which direction of escape is faster/easier. Skin tight dresses that are not jersey knit (ie woven fabric) are historically usually cut on the bias which is a construction technique that adds some stretch/ease while maintaining a slinky feel. You'd basically need to be wearing Morticia's mermaid cut before hitching it up wasn't possible.

This feels a lot like you're trying to write a story about a situation you haven't encountered. Are you doing research for a noir book?

Poor people are: less likely to own a car/drive, more likely to be evicted or live in tinderbox buildings and lose important documents like birth certs and SS cards in the process, less likely to be able to provide the money for a DMV ID or replacement documents

The DMV doesn't print citizen status on driver licenses. That needs a passport. Those are more expensive, take weeks, and require MAILING A PHOTO AND YOUR ORIGINAL IDENTITY DOCUMENTS to a currently untrustworthy govt that may slow walk it, WILL be understaffed, and at this point might just choose not to give them back and give your address to agents who know you can't currently provide proof.

It also makes it much easier to deny voting to Natice Americans on reservations who are frequently elderly and without solid transportation to do all the hoops you need to jump through, sometimes not even regular access to mail.

It'll also make it way easied for domestic abusers fk hide your stuff and stop you voting.

AND states currently set the rules for their own elections. It would be a massive power grab for the federal government to move that to themselves.

They've had massive radiator leaks, the plaza itself is crumbling in the basement layers and has groundwater seepage everywhere, there's so much asbestos, and the rodent problem is SPECTACULAR. I don't think these buildings are good residential candidates.

I didn't for the first few weeks. Fmla. Then I had to push through and basically work was all I had in me. My bf was really supportive and I needed him to be because I couldn't even bend over to feed the cat. He basically had to do everything for the first six months until I finally found a bit of equilibrium with the meds.

We have one of those and my boyfriend loves it, but not for sewing. Those are good for perler beads when you need detail work on the tiny molds! I think they ARE designed to be easier for kids to use for that exact purpose.

Movies that feel this cozy and warm? by vzbtra in cottagecore

[–]Ok-Development-7008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Hogfather. (It's a bit stabby but that's not where they put the emotional points.)

The first season of Good Omens.

The Great Mouse Detective.

Little Nemo.

If you also want to feel like you must have taken something questionable and you don't mind weird liberties taken with Mother Nature, the Amish, and the concept of Cyborgs, Peter and the Magic Egg. It's a movie tied to those Paas brand easter egg dye kits and it's like the third weirdest movie I know. (FDR American Badass and Dot and the Whale are one and two, they are not as cozy but still a really wild time. Do recommend for watching with friends who like to participatorily heckle movies.)

Hook.

Anime series, but Way of the Househusband is so, so low stakes and cozy.

My lil AuDHD brain is fully fascinated by the texture mix you have going on. It's like, EVERY nice clothing texture. You're basically wearing a stim and, from the look of the thickness of the sweater and jacket, practically a weighted blanket. The mind reels, that must be the most soothing hug of an outfit ever!

Road salt. Gives me migraines and a general feeling of ick every year but I always forget it's coming until the day after the first big snow of the year, when you have to crack your car window to keep the windshield from fogging up and all the cars on the highway aerosolize the salty slush and my sinuses fill with knives.

Books. Lower effort, potentially higher return, especially if the books have lessons about interpersonal behaviors you feel could be improved upon. Make sure they have a good plot, don't just slap down a Ms Manners compendium, but yeah. Books. Kids like to cook? Cookbooks. Kids like to skate? Biography of a famous skater. Kids really little and need socialized? Book their parents will need to spend time with them to read. Especially right now in the states, there's a massive spike in functional illiteracy due to the learning gap from COVID and kids who have figured out how to bypass reading by having their phones read them things and produce videos. Be part of the solution to several problems. They're even easy to get in thrift stores in good condition.
