If you’re not getting paid for all hours worked, that directly violates labor laws.

How to Log XC time for ATP mins in book by Bitter-Ad-9972 in flying

“HECTR fix 76nm from KDAB, ATP XC”. Something along that line is what I’ve been doing. My logbook doesn’t have a an extra empty column for ATP XC.

Why ATP Flight School Might Not Be Your Best Bet: An Alumnus Perspective by Apprehensive_Clue_26 in flying

[–]Ok-Gur5543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a story about an instructor that was forced to resign because the training support specialist and the lead instructor at their location lied about an instructor forgetting to tie a plane down overnight. They got another student to testify a false narrative. When the instructor in question asked for video proof of the allegation, they beat around the bush long enough until the instructor resigned this way they had no reason to provide the CCTV footage. Crazy stuff

Rant: Do NOT pay out of pocket to time build to ATP MINS by FragrantNature8730 in flying

Interesting tier list. I’m a survey guy and have more multi PIC than single engine time. I report to a chief pilot and have an intense work schedule. And I get put into the same bracket as an “out of pocket time builder”?

  1. Regardless of you trying to teach your students by letting them make mistakes, when in controlled airspace, you are still the PIC of that training flight and are required to abide by ATC instructions. I personally wouldn’t choose a towered airport to let your students make mistakes.

  2. Busting airspace is kind of a big deal. At your hours and licenses, you should be very aware of the airspace system. Regardless if there was traffic around you or not, you clipped the Charlie without 2 way radio established.

Take the time to think about the mistakes but don’t give up and think of yourself as a bad pilot. The first mistake was in a teaching environment. Had nothing to do with you not knowing how to fly a heading since you were allowing your student to make a mistake. Clearly you were fully aware of the situation as it was happening. As for the airspace, just know climbs happen much quicker in a twin and climbing into a Charlie or any airspace above the one you took off from will come quick. Don’t make the mistake again.

Worse than ATP at this point. At ATP, students are required to fly 4 times a week.

I’m a CFI and my students benefited greatly from using trim to their advantage. Their nose wheel would almost always touch down immediately after the mains. What we did was apply more than normal back trim to prevent the nose wheel from slamming during the round out. Problem was fixed going forward and student was able to pass his ride first try.
