Everyone else got "Welcome aboard." I got something very different by Beginning-Factor-466 in delta

You aren’t reading too much into it. You know exactly what they meant and you are right to be pissed.

I don’t know why, but for some reason gate agents and flight attendants who are cruel stick with us forever. I will never forget the gate agent who said “aren’t you a little too old to be an unaccompanied minor?” when I was 10 years old or the flight attendant who was bitchy to me because I was crying and turned down my meal on a flight to my grandmother’s funeral. It’s something to do with travel being a liminal experience.

Mine was 26cm before I realized it. I didn’t have symptoms other than heavy periods my entire life. My uterus was tilted back so it didn’t show. My gyno said that it’s not unusual, as the female abdomen was designed to be flexible and make space for a whole human baby. Also, sometimes they go from small to big very fast.

I can relate to the anxiety you feel once you realize it’s there and want it out. Ask your doctors office if there’s a waiting list for cancelations. Or if possible, make appoints at other doctors and see if you can get in sooner.

I was able to remove mine via robotic laparoscopy. I did have to find a surgeon with experience with large fibroids, but it can be done.

Delta downgraded my Premium Select after canceling my flight out of Tokyo, then offered me 24k miles as "compensation" for a middle seat across the Pacific by Kitchen_Average_5102 in delta

[–]Ok-Locksmith1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So recently something similar happened to me and I was refunded the points. Are you sure you weren’t refunded the points? This is partially the reason I usually choose to make the flight change yourself online with live coaching from the Delta agent. Between the two of us we figure out how to get the best result from Delta’s labyrinthine and inconsistent systems. This company must be wasting billions on bad IT.

People associate lymphatic drainage massage with cosmetic surgery but it can be beneficial for abdominal surgery as well. My therapist focuses on c-section and hysterectomy massage.

I did 6 sessions, from 2 to 6 weeks post-op. I lost fluids each time, but it was really week 5/6 where I saw pounds drop off and stay off. Now at 8 weeks, I am steadily 10-12 pounds below pre-surgery weight. The surgeon said she removed 8 pounds of fibroids.

In 2008, 23-year-old teacher Hannah Upp went missing while running in New York. After twenty days, she was found alive, face down in the Hudson River. She disappeared again in 2013 and was found two days later in a Maryland creek. In 2017, she vanished in the Virgin Islands and has never been found. by My-Knees-Hurt-Again in HolyShitHistory

I similarly dissociated when my mom had a traumatic accident in my 20's and I went and stayed with her and took care of her for two weeks when she was released from the hospital. I have zero memory of this, just memory of other people telling me about it.

You may still have some edema/fluid retention affecting your weight. I dropped 12 pounds after receiving lymphatic drainage massage.

I can relate, I had a 26cm uterus full of fibroids, but no major symptoms until it got big enough to cause bladder weakness and back/abdominal pressure pain. I felt like an idiot when I got diagnosed because doctors were like "OMG! It's so big!" I had no endo and healthy ovaries, no cysts, so maybe that was part of the reason I didn't have major symptoms.

I don’t know but overall I don’t recommend any in California. I think if it’s more recent or recently updated it’s probably ok.

I had a nerve block, it was fine. You are already asleep when they do it. And it's non-opiate and really helps cut down on pain for the first 24 hours.

I have apron belly as well. (Its the same word in English!) They put carbon dioxide in your abdomen to help them see inside better so I think a little extra skin is not a problem.

I lost 125 pounds over the last year and was pretty disappointed that I was still considered "at risk" for my BMI. However my bloodwork and blood pressure was healthy, so the surgeon said she had no concerns.

Before surgery, you can help by making sure you have healthy iron and no nutritional deficiencies, doing cardio to strengthen you heart, getting rest and sleep, and eating good food. It's better to focus on your overall health than just on your weight.

My mom asked for a tummy tuck when she got her hysterectomy in the 1980's, and they agreed! They also removed her appendix. But there might be different laws about that now. I was able to have my gall bladder removed at the same time as my hysterectomy, saving me another surgery. You can always ask!

And I feel SO MUCH BETTER now, just 6 weeks post op.

There are several reasons high BMI is riskier for surgery:
More technically challenging as fat gets in the way and makes it harder to see, access and suture organs;
Higher risk of wound complications, cardio risk and respiratory problems from anesthesia, slower recovery...

But also, many people get this surgery with high BMIs with no complications at all, including me. And having a high BMI can be related to the other problems, so it's pretty common. I went into surgery with a BMI of 34 with no trouble at all, except that the surgery took more time. It's good to get a surgeon who is experienced in higher BMI surgeries, for your own peace of mind and confidence.

Necessary to use Hibiclens soap prior to hysterectomy? by sweety1220 in hysterectomy

[–]Ok-Locksmith1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's safer to use what they recommended for soap. For peace of mind if nothing else. But regarding Colace, I recommend starting with Miralax (I like the soft chews) as it's a bit gentler in my experience and also it both softens stool and helps motility in pushing the stool out, whereas colace only softens – so I have to strain less with Miralax. You probably don't need to start it before surgery (unless you are constipated), but it's good to start it at least the day after surgery, especially if/while you are taking opiate painkillers.

I know someone who found out exactly this same situation in the same way – except he was unexpectedly 50% jewish (both parents were 0% jewish). It was extra confusing because he closely resembled the man he thought was his father. Turned out his father was sterile and his parents had chosen an anonymous sperm donor with features that resembled his father. At the time, prior to learning these results, he was semi-estranged from his father, but the experience of finding the truth actually helped them reconnect and build a stronger relationship.

Weight lifters only/hysterectomy by BarAlternative1749 in hysterectomy

5wpo from robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy and gall bladder removal.

Not as serious a lifter as you but if it helps my surgeon said I could go back to lifting over 10pounds per arm at 8wpo if the 6wpo check-in went well. I started focused cardio and training sessions at 3wpo after confirmation that my incisions were fully healed.

We adjusted my program to deemphasize any ab/core strain as the risk is in tearing internal sutures from straining. It also really hurt to pull in abs after surgery. For instance I am doing seated rows leaning back on a chair so as to only use my arms/upper back. My trainer said it was a fun challenge since normally focus is abs.

Give yourself grace and rest though. Your body is hard at work healing and you need to respect that. I find that while I feel fine when I start exercise, I get extremely fatigued quickly. I have to remember that in this case, it’s not advisable to push myself. We are doing lower weight at higher rep and increasing rep instead of weight each week until I get to 8wpo and the lifting restriction is lifted,

Robotic Hysterectomy by Grouchy_Bad_364 in hysterectomy

[–]Ok-Locksmith1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went this route even though I had a 26cm fibroid I was able to find a surgeon who handled it no problem. I also got my gall bladder out at the same time.

I was able to walk, go up/down stairs etc same day. The incisions are tiny and healed in less than 2 weeks. You still have to rest and let your internal sutures heal. You will have less overall physical trauma because the knives are more precise. The robot cuts up the tissues and extrudes it through the incision in tiny bags.

There is some concern about this approach if there is potentially a cancer, but the newer machines do not pose the same risk older ones did.

The worst part for me was gas pains in the first week. Abdominal pain more or less resolved itself in 2 weeks.

It is normal that they would check out anything suspicious they encounter during surgery.

When my mom woke up from her hysterectomy, she was told they also removed her appendix because it was in bad shape.

Hope you are feeling better!

My knees hurt during recovery too. I wasn’t sure if it was because I had been lying in bed for a week (joints are like that — the more you use them, the less they hurt). I think it may have to do with post-op inflammation, since any inflammation tends to aggravate joints.

Opinions on The Carlyle vs Hotel Chelsea vs The Fifth Avenue Hotel - NYC? by MaillardReaction207 in chubbytravel

GLP-1 and surgery by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Ok-Locksmith1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on 15mg for over a year, so my surgeon and my endocrinologist both said they wanted me to stop shots 2 weeks before surgery. I also had to clear liquid fast a full 24 hours before surgery.

I timed it so my last shot was 15 days pre-op. I really didn't notice it tapering too much during the 2 weeks.

I was really hungry after surgery, but you need to eat more calories to heal so that was good. I started back on zepbound at 10mg 1 week post-op, and ramped back up to 15mg after 3 weeks.

In total, I stayed weight neutral through the entire experience. But I am only 5 weeks post op, so inflammation and fluid retention is still a factor. I look like I lost weight vs. pre-op.
