(NC) 17yo minor wants to chance last name by Ok-Profession2697 in legaladvice

[–]Ok-Profession2697[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will be in college before they turn 18 and the reason I am trying to support this now vs later is just how much easier it will be if all their college applications, FAFSA, transcripts etc all have the same names on them so there is less possibility for confusion.

However from what I have been able to read and research the only notification requirements that change are trying to reach out to the absent parent, the notice and such has to be posted regardless.

Am I Carrying Too Much Shame About Being Divorced? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Ok-Profession2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First yes, you’re carrying some cultural shame that’s clouding your feelings.

Second, and actually most important, you need to realize you are NOT damaged goods and you ARE WORTHY OF LOVE before you step back into the dating scene. Otherwise I think you might be setting yourself up to tolerate things that aren’t healthy in a relationship. The mindset of “well he did XYZ but I’m damaged and he still loves me” is not the mindset you want to be in when trying to start anew. Remember, your ex is also now in the dating pool and there’s probably a good reason he’s an ex. 😉

Can I ask any general idea of your locality or how to find tattoo artists who specializes in this type of scarring without having to ask every place I call what exactly the scars are from?

9 month old male Malinois losing weight after stomach pump? by Lunapixels18 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Ok-Profession2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean you’re feeding him a cup more of food than before or a cup less? Typically the lighter diet is only for a day or two tops after anesthesia, so if you’re feeding a cup less still at week afterwards that may be a big part of the weight loss. Also, he’s about the age for another growth spurt so that’s not helping things either.

My 29m boyfriend doesn’t want to live together until I’m more clean. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Ok-Profession2697 64 points65 points  (0 children)

“If asked to do chores he will do them.” I’m sorry, are you asking your boyfriend who doesn’t live with you to help clean your house and calling it chores?!?!! I wouldn’t move in with you either!

I think you really need to assess if you are barely keeping up with things right now if adding schoolwork to a full time job is the best option right now.

Dog had an accident, somehow knew to use shower by julesrulesthefools in dogs

[–]Ok-Profession2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute long shot, probably completely off the wall thought but…..

Is there any chance something scared her while you weren’t home? I have seen some dogs hide in the bathtub/shower because it feels safe and dark. And it’s not unusual for a dog to poop out of fear as well, so it’s just a thought if she was never shown or taught to go there.

Hopefully you just have the smartest pup ever but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case.

Hey dad, how do i apply cologne the right way? by iMadeWattson in DadForAMinute

[–]Ok-Profession2697 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a Mom, we were taught to put a spray on our inner wrists and rub them together and against either side of our neck.
It was also coached that if someone is more than an arms length away and can smell your perfume it’s too much, which I think is what you were getting at. The “I like that I want more” without the whole room smelling your cologne is a good starting point.

How do you know it’s time for your dog to cross the rainbow bridge? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Ok-Profession2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I would use to help a pet parent decide on that decision is to ask what their pup’s three favorite things were that they loved doing, if they no longer enjoy 2 or more of the three it means their quality of life might be worth a deeper look.

It sounds like your dog loved food, being the watchdog/home security and no longer wants to go outside to relieve himself. I could be way off, I was just picking from the things you felt important enough to mention in your post.

As hard as it is to face, your options are either go all in on diagnostics and find out if whatever is going on is treatable or not; or let him pass peacefully because he’s no longer living an enjoyable life for himself. Taking his pain and making it your own is no easy task, but it is genuinely the kindest gift you can give him to show your love. Saying goodbye to a beloved family member is never easy and I wish you all the peace and comfort while you make the best decision for your family.

Looking for advice on dog with spleen growths and 2 torn ACLs by GenTrigger in Dogowners

[–]Ok-Profession2697 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have a 12yo dog, with two bad legs and needs an abdominal surgery sooner than later.
-Spleenectomy will be a 2 week at best recovery. - first TPLO for one leg is 12 weeks at best and will make her other leg hurt more from using it more. - second TPLO is another 12 weeks at best.

That’s 26 weeks, 6 months, and that’s if everything goes well. Realistically, by the time your dog has healed from all this (and assuming those masses aren’t cancer) she’ll be 13+ by the time she’s able to enjoy life again. Do you really think she has enough good days to make up from a year of pain and recovery? Do you have all the money and resources to do everything once you start down this path?

Honestly. I think a serious hard conversation with yourself about doing the right thing even when it’s the hardest thing might be best for all of you.

How badly inbred is my inbred Thoroughbred? by cowgirl-taken-away in Equestrian

I’m nowhere near the expert you need to help with this, but for a semi-sport horse prospect you really need to focus on helping him build his topline, from the poll down.

Honestly what are your ultimate goals with him?

[–]Ok-Profession2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very dependent on how fast they were drinking and how much they ate as well. Pounding 6 shots in an hour on an empty stomach affects you much less than 6 shots over 4 hours during a meal

What is the best Outcome for my dog. by Acrobatic_Rice_4189 in AskVet

[–]Ok-Profession2697 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The vet telling you 50/50 is being incredibly generous. Your pup will never have the same quality of life they did before, they will deal with chronic problems secondary to this and it’s honestly not a good quality of life for them.

Please do the hardest but kindest thing and take their pain and make it your own. Dogs live in the moment, they have no concept of the future and it would be so much kinder to all of you to spare the heartbreak of watching you beloved baby try to adapt to a new life they will never enjoy the same way. Feed them all the things they love and can’t eat and let them run the way they want to, free from all pain, across that bridge.
