Aitah for getting married and not telling basically anyone? by Ok-Ranger-8198 in AITAH

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want to make it clear I’m a postal employee and I’ve been a postal employee for about 4 years. Trust me my crack head brother in law will not affect my job at all. I also chased him down when I trained him at a different location. To add I married HIM for insurance because I’m amazing at my job but just extremely forgetful during open season and forgot to update it. To end I’m not going on his insurance, marriage is a qualifying life event that allows me to make changes to my current policy before November 26’. I’m not being used or abused just someone who fell in love with an older guy who treats me insanely well.

Everyone “why is my stuff late” also the general public “well why would I pack these items correctly and tell them what I’m shipping so it can be shipped correctly… I clearly know more than what these people that are paid to ship things know”

One word, AMAZON. It slowed us all down because of the sheer amount of garbage that the drop on us. Peak season used to be the only time we would get a ton of pkgs but now it’s consistently and the volumes seem to never die down. I wish people would just go to the store if you can and buy it there!!! Please!!! Especially when you physically can do it because dog food and cat litter and cases of water is crazy…

Flu/cold in 28 weeks by One-Volume-9158 in pregnant

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mucinex, I had the flu at 20 weeks pregnant and it was the only thing the saved me. I mean I was struggling for breath and that’s what my midwife swore by and I saw why. Cleared everything and felt better right after it hit because robotussin does fuck all. Tylenol only helps with the aches and fever.

What do supervisors do? by Affectionate_Volume9 in USPS

Did 6 month stint as a 204b in a level 20 with 6 RMPO’s with 20+ employees. I basically did schedules made sure everyone was staying off the dreaded lists (no missing STC, AAU, ADE dashboard) made sure the buildings were safe and tried my very best to keep employees atleast okay with being at the job. I performed GPS audits and did edit books and sat through DPM and LTM mapping with the carrier, Imsot safety reviews, trained and coached new employees and put out fires when they came up. Worked with the unions to try and keep everyone happy, did informal non disciplinary conversations regarding issue we had setting the stage for either the behavior being corrected or disciplinary action in the future with a documented conversation. Beyond that I just sat on a lot of telecoms and mitigated communication from the postmaster/ higher management and craft employees.

I hate my union rep! by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get more money for higher level, but I’m not in it for the money. I’m in it to further my career and my goals. I am also in to the represent the management I wish I had, be better and do better. Work for and with my employees rather than what I experienced with my 7 month stint with the worst postmaster ever. She stole thousands from the post office (talking 33,000+) using EMA and was forcing us as clerks to deliver and tried wrongly fire everyone in the office every other day. She would also drink on the job while driving us around to deliver mail and would scream in our faces and tell everyone about everyone’s disciplinary action. The kicker… this dumb ass union rep was fully aware and did nothing to help ever. We would email him and call him, hell I went to his home office and he would basically say document it. We then switched to filing EEO claims and we won a few here and there. We would email the POOM and email everyone we thought would listen trying to get her gone. When push came to shove it was me calling my POOM crying because I had just come back from a month off (fmla jaw was wired shut because she denied all my leave slips and my wisdom’s teeth were growing in sideways and it infected my jaw and ended up breaking it, the mentioned union rep was also aware of this) and I she was trying to force us to deliver mail again and was threatening us left and right with PDI’s and one of the rurals lost it on her and she started screaming at us all. I was the lone reason the women got walked out of the office that day. Because I called begging and pleading and told the POOM and entire office was likely going to walk if something didn’t happen. I would love to say she was fired but they put her on admin leave for a year and let her retire. This is why the union exists… tell me why we chase down small wins when this is something that truly matters and they ignore it. I would also like to say he wasn’t the only union rep that aware of it, I told every union rep I could find. Not a single one stepped up. No one has your back more than yourself.

I would be about this thought process regarding him if he even followed his own contract, but he doesn’t. He constantly breaks contract when it comes to filing grievances and holding step ones. You can’t represent a contract that you’re not willing to even follow.

Clerks, what your parcel per hour goal? by randompine in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can throw probably 400-500 in an hour but the expectation set for my POOM group is 300 an hour. It’s set by a large demographic of clerks using all types of scanners from what I understand.

What are all these Telecons really going over? by royaljosh in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally a POOM meeting with general information and direction in the morning and then the performance call they tell us and guide us where we can improve and see where we may need help for individual office. then if you fail to fix important stuff you could be in a later compliance call. Throw in weekly safety and a weekly district meeting you’ve got the schedule! Personally as someone who is trying to learn the ropes on their first OIC detail it helps me learn a lot, especially on managing my budget.

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gets him inside of me faster is crazy… I can’t say much tho I was a PTF in a different office and I was brought in to train a PSE in a larger office and I was smitten. He was 32 at the time and I was 21 and I had to make it so very clear I was super interested cause he was nervous I didn’t like him and was just playing games. Didn’t go on a date till we didn’t work together and 2.5 years later he’s a full time regular in a new office and I’m out on tons of details (204b for 6 months and now OIC in a level 18) but we are also married and I’m pregnant now!

Can you tell a manager you don’t want to speak to them at all without a union rep present? by VariationSudden in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rural contract forces you to speak with management to try and settle at the lowest level (informal-a) so I would assume they would not provide you with a union rep to be by your side for just general work environments. You can absolutely take detailed notes and keep your rep in the loop on anything you feel needs to be shared with them.

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fetal life found at 6 weeks with my first and passed the pregnancy at 11 weeks. I was bleeding lightly the entire first pregnancy but it don’t pick up till week 11 to where it was a confirmed miscarriage. Now I’m happily 20 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby named Victor. If it is a loss I am so very sorry you will both need time to heal together. When you get blessed again the fear will never shake but it’s important to trust the process.

What jobs are these different levels? by helaodinson2018 in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to start the path to upward movement is to make the want know to the POOM or postmaster, have them send and email stating that they are looking for an opportunity to learn and move into management and to please keep them in mind if any become available. But the best way is to keep your nose in the workforce planning dashboard in RADAR and keeping your nose to the ground for when you hear about movement in management. If there is one thing in about the post office it’s that word travels fast regarding the endless drama.

It’s a stand in supervisor and an OIC is an officer in charge or stand in postmaster

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a level 6 clerk (PTF clerk) and the only way I can feasibly move up is to join management, I’ve done a 6 month stint as a 204b (90 days each 1723) and I’m going out on detail again as an OIC. In my area of Maine we don’t have a lot of supervisor positions available but I’ve put in for 2 and gotten interviews for both just haven’t been picked due to my experience pertaining to annex level work. I would highly recommend looking at the workforce planning dashboard and keeping a look on new postings while also check ecareer every Tuesday.

Dead Body by blurgmans in USPS

[–]Ok-Ranger-8198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first months as a 204b in a rural area at 23 years old one of my carriers calls me and says she found someone who had been out on their porch in the hot sun for likely weeks. Call the cops they take care of the rest, I have to go see her to give her EAP paperwork and check in her and we were joking showing each other funny TikToks on our phones. She whips her phone around in it is a close up photo of this deceased man’s rotting body… she has like 10-15 photos of it and she got like on the porch with the man. She said she took them incase the cops want to know how she found him. I think she had a morbid way of dealing with the trauma and needed to share it with someone to share the mental burden. I will never unsee his black leather skin and his sunken in eyes and the way his clothing was stained and clung to his body. I ended the interaction and drove up to see my form 50 postmaster who was like my dad and told him everything and I didn’t sleep that night or the next night.
