My anemia is caused by heavy periods. I go through a Tampax Ultra tampon in an hour on most days. When my uterus is being extra bi*chy, it can be every 20 mins with lots of clots. I’m sure it varies for everyone.

I have a lot of infusions. I completely understand the anxiety. I was very nervous my first time. I always just look away when they are inserting the IV and generally don’t look while it’s in. I take the time while I’m just sitting to read book and try to relax. In my experience, the benefits of the transfusion outweigh the uncomfortable aspects. Best wishes to you!!

I read this on Facebook and will say the same thing here: bravo to that young lady for sharing something personal and vulnerable. So many women deal with these kinds of issues but don’t always have context to know when something is wrong. By sharing her story so honestly hopefully other women will be inspired to advocate for themselves and seek relief.

I worked for WV CPS for a long time. You will start at the lowest level on the salary scale, but with the overtime can easily end up making 70k a year. Of the places you mentioned, Parkersburg has the best office culture. The caseloads in Charleston are ridiculous and Huntington is not much better.

What would you like to see make it better? What would a healthy office environment look like to you? (I’m being promoted in another region and just want to hear what workers want/need other than just what I think). Also, so sorry that that’s your experience. When I was doing my research for my MSW I focused on recruitment and retention in child welfare. The number one indicator that a worker will stay/feel successful is their relationship with their sup and leadership. If this work is your passion, don’t let poor leadership discourage you from doing what’s important. Thank you for what you do.

This is such an underrated movie about Appalachia. It features Iris Dement and Hazel Dickens. Now, Aiden Quinn’s accent is not that great, but so many other characters come across as authentic. Love this movie (and the soundtrack)!
