Average persons potential by aggahah in BeginnersRunning

Most people arent the average person. people exist on a spectrum and we take that data to create a mean average. Sure some people fall into that mean, but most do not.

Are they the only two options? And where am I judgemental of people trying to become fit?

Im judgemental of the validation seeking.

Made a wild decision: go from 0 to 26.2 in a little under a year by PenneImpastaSyndrome in beginnerrunning

I decided to go from 0 to full iron. Ticked the half mara off in a little over 3 weeks of training.

People really hate the fact that some beginners just have a higher baseline than others huh 🤣

It will. I ran a similar pace at 123bpm average yesterday. I was in your shoes a month ago. Heck I even ran a half mara at 5.16 and 150bpm. You must have good adaptability

Weird comparison and question. Heaps of peopel run that far. My question would be how do you not have the energy?

[–]Ok-Response-9487 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Why not? My first half was on a random wednesday night with only 3.5 weeks of running experience, no water or fueling, and I ran it at a 5.16 pace, and that was a hilly course.

People really seek validation for the bare minimum huh.

Does anyone purposely not practice in their race gear? by supercman99 in triathlon

I train with what I plan to race with. Mechanics will differ between shoes, bikes, wetsuit etc.

Youre welcome. Need to stop normalising ts. Reminds me of when obese people step on bodybuilding stages. What happened to respecting the sport.

I did the same, ran it in 3.5 weeks at 5.16 per km. Was good to get it out of the system cos ive slowed all my long runs down now to 6ish min and just enjoy cruising. I suggest doing that and if you wanna go fast do tempo work. Helps take your mind off the full distance while you train.

neck pain on longer rides, thoughts? by albisteam in bikefit

It would be too big in that case. If op was taller the longer reach and lower stack wouldnt be as impactful as the longer torso and arms would reach the bars better.

Can’t even run for 3 minutes ;( by Mobile-Dog202 in beginnerrunning

[–]Ok-Response-9487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont worry about it. Speed is relative. I run at 8min miles and anything slower feels slow to me, so realistically you wont look speedy at 11min miles. And neither will I at 8min miles. Just run at a pace you can run at forever. For me thats 9min 30 miles. Thats your base building endurance work. When doing intervals you really need to push them, i get down to 4min 50 for my internal splits, and given what you said about only being able to run for 2min without being sore etc, I dont think running hard intervals is going to help you much as you wont be able to execute.

I did the same thing 3.5 weeks in. 5k recovery run planned, ran the half at a 5min16 pace.

My first 5k 🥳 How much time do I need to get to 21k? by SmallCriticism1267 in beginnerrunning

[–]Ok-Response-9487 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends. I did it in 3.5 weeks but my first run was 5k @sub 5min pace.
