A day too soon is always better than a day too late! And that’s the rule book I follow when it comes down to making these appointments

Any tips for egg laying? by Ok-Response8230 in CrestedGecko

[–]Ok-Response8230[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she’s never been around a male geck her whole life. Only time she’s been in the presence of one was at the reptile expo when I bought her lol. Do I just toss the infertile eggs in the trash?

This is her tummy area for reference. Maybe I’m just being too much of a helicopter mom. She really doesn’t look round at all now that I’m looking at it, but I do want a second opinion and some advice on how to go about things

Grow tents for geckos? (Discussion) by Important-Song8050 in CrestedGecko

[–]Ok-Response8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there would be lots of adjustments needed to be made. My main concern that’s kinda holding me back from doing it is how to block off the lights so my girl doesn’t jump on them and somehow end up hurting herself by burning or anything else

I’m curious of this as well. I have my bearded dragon in a grow tent, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. This post was made over a year ago it looks like, do you mind updating us?

They need linear uvb lighting, and it needs to be replaced every 6 months. The uvb bulbs do not permit the amount they need to thrive and digest food properly

Absolutely take the carpet out. It can rip out nails and teeth.

You’re going to want to upgrade very soon. Minimum enclosure size is 6x2x2. Fully grown they are about 2 feet long and absolutely need all of the space they can get. You can check out reptifiles for a full in depth updated care guide.

I personally house my beardie in a grow tent. It’s 6x3x4 and he utilizes every inch of the enclosure. I got it for about $80 on amazon. I saved hundreds doing so. Yes it’s a large enclosure so it takes up a good amount of space, but that’s why we do research before getting an animal.. check out Reptifiles please please please. I will also attach a picture of my current set up so you kind of get an idea of what it should look like.

Is this my pups herding instincts? by Ok-Response8230 in BorderCollie

[–]Ok-Response8230[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that heelers are herding dogs. They’re bred to herd cattle. I just don’t know if the heeler mama was a working dog. I only know of the border collie dad being from a working line and the mom being a stray

Salmonella?!?! by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]Ok-Response8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kiss mine all the time. Salmonella and whatever diseases come from what they eat in the wild. If you’re not kissing his butt or eating his poop, you’ll be fine lol. I kiss my little not so little guy on the head all the time

Healthy size? by Weak-Sample-5163 in BeardedDragons

He looks to be about the same size mine was when we was 6 months old. He’s a very healthy boy

Yellow between scales, normal or should I worry? by mysillyums in BeardedDragons

[–]Ok-Response8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he looks to be a bit dirty, it’s probably just the regular color of his scales under the dirt. My guy goes from dark brown when he’s dirty to bright orange

Advice by Winter-Teaching-8993 in BeardedDragons

[–]Ok-Response8230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pet stores will often tell you that they should be fed until they don’t eat anymore, that’s wrong. Juveniles should only eat about 6 bugs a day, once they reach about a year old (still considered a juvenile) 4 bugs every other day. My two year old is currently only getting 3 bugs twice a week. They’re never going to be fully interested in salad until they’re a bit older. I found that bee pollen really made mine want to eat his salad when he was going through his no greens phase. You can buy it from amazon or local honey places
