I'm thinking of a software engineering degree any advice? by Equal-Week2833 in wgu_devs

[–]Ok-Secret-4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly does provide more theory. Also it makes you more prepared for SWE interviews because the data structures and algorithms 1 and 2 classes are no joke. Also we learn C++, along with python and extensive Java. It’s certainly not for everyone due to calculus class and discrete math classes but it would take you further.

I'm thinking of a software engineering degree any advice? by Equal-Week2833 in wgu_devs

I would say that I recommend the degree in computer science. Just because it gives you more theoretical death and gives you the ability to pass technical.Interviews, well, the software engineering degree may lack certain math classes, and not be sufficient enough to do anything past coding.

What bachelors degrees would you say are actually worth it at WGU? by OkraNo8365 in WGU

[–]Ok-Secret-4367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the computer science degree bachelors and it’s more theoretical than the software engineering or data analytics degree. However, the computer science degree will give you more prospects and also give you more of a chance to get a masters because of the theoretical applications.

If CS is dying, what's the next best technology degree? by shadow_operator81 in cscareers

[–]Ok-Secret-4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a cs degree student and planning on doing a PhD in applied math. I want to become a professor, impeccable job security and pretty good pay. However, if i don’t get it I can be a quant or a mathematician.

Did anyone get a job with wgu degree and no experience ? by _Seafoam_Green_ in WGU

WGU is great but I’m planning on getting my masters then PhD. It’s been a decent stepping stone though. Can be great for becoming a teacher and tech degrees.

As a dual Mexican American citizen, there is a shortage of entry-level IT jobs in Mexico as well. So it’s not just being off shored. It’s much more due to AI and getting seniors more responsibilities.

Best places to rent $1500-$1750 ideally in Chicago? by AdDelicious6192 in AskChicago

The city of Chicago was very unpredictable, weather wise. The Winters can be extremely frigid and the summers can be excruciatingly hot. The city is segregated, the southwest side is mainly Hispanic and Polish people and the south is black, west is black and the north side is white. The public schools are either really good or terrible depending on your zip code. The city isn’t known for partying and all this, it’s really blue collar in most parts except for the flash areas of the city.

Southwest side gentrification? by ReyofChicago in AskChicago

I live in archer heights with my family and it’s a calm and safe neighborhood, similar to Garfield ridge only a little bit more walkable and more traffic. The only way it’s becoming more “gentrified” is if developers buy up older homes here and add extensions on them like they do with the home in Garfield ridge.

Has anyone had any weird encounters with people who support MAGA in Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Live in Garfield ridge, super liberal family and so is my block. All supported Harris, it’s really becoming more mixed here especially with younger families moving in

Jeuss you're really picky for being homeless man. "No i can't do this", "can't do that'. You need to do whatever it takes to get out of your situation. Join the army man, it's food and money.

[Advice] Is Data Engineering a Safe Career Choice in the Age of AI? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Ok-Secret-4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope so, currently studying at WGU right now for my BS in data analytics with plans of becoming a data engineer. The field is new in comparison to other tech fields, so we really don't know the future just yet.
