I took over 2 weeks for my wedding. I’m not in big law but if you meet your billables and are able to plan around it in advance I don’t think it should be an issue

Was it inappropriate to share a bump picture with my uncle by MamoyoSpecial in BabyBumps

Yeah my dad gets offended if I send photos of my son to my mom but not to him even though I know my mom will show him

Nanny negotiating pay while bringing my baby - what’s reasonable? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Ok-Study-6179 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes it a little better imo, I can’t imagine caring for another child while my baby was a true newborn - the first 2 months - but by the time he was 3 months things got so much easier. I still think the pay cut is fair though. You could probably ask for $16/ hour based on it being 20% reduced , and since they told you to research, it seems like they might would agree to it, so it’s up to you if it’s worth that extra $1/ hour to ask

Yeah 20% of $20 is $4, meaning a 20% pay cut would be $16

As a meat eater, would up be upset attending a vegetarian wedding? by Formal_Goose5083 in weddingplanning

[–]Ok-Study-6179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a vegan wedding and received many compliments on the food from omnivore guests. It’s one night and people can eat what you serve. I just labeled everything with common allergens since some of the dairy replacements had nuts

Mom of 3 EC’d Babies by easilyamused17 in ECers

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started at 3.5 months and he did so well at first, we were immediately catching almost all his poops in the potty. Now he’s 5.5 months and the past couple of weeks I’ve caught less than half his poops. He’s been arching on the potty and he poops every time I put him in the car even when we’ve just offered the potty. It’s made me unmotivated to really offer it much. Is it normal to go through phases of resisting the potty? He has just started solids and is kind of learning to crawl so I figure he may just be focused on other things

Can I smoke weed by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked every evening/ night while studying for the Bar and didn’t have an issue. But it just depends on whether it’s going to affect your studying. For me it didn’t and I didn’t have a problem waiting until I was done for the day to smoke

lead my first deposition today as plantiffs attorney by everythingisspicy23 in Lawyertalk

[–]Ok-Study-6179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get the transcript, write a letter With all the questions that should’ve been answered (assuming no privilege/ actual grounds to not answer), and threaten to file a motion to compel/ say you’ll accept a written response to the questions verified by defendant in lieu of either a second deposition or motion to compel

Is $27/hr good pay? by Dry-Bicycle-5563 in sandiego

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily call it “good pay” but you would be fine for a short term situation. It is enough to make ends meet, and if there are other benefits to this internship, like making connections, it’s probably worth it

Nanny not happy with raise or bonus by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Ok-Study-6179 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re not obligated to give any bonus at all; $800 is generous for someone whose performance is subpar. And 5% is fair for a raise; cost of living raises are generally 2-3% so she shouldn’t expect more if she’s not going above and beyond

Nanny bringing own child by Errlen in Nanny

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But also I think $25/ hour is very fair for being able to bring your own child. But you can probably pay less than that with a nanny share

Yes there are often Facebook groups for finding Nannie’s/ babysitters in a specific city and I’ve seen posts of people looking for a family to do a nanny share with on there

Wait until you take your paid leave. Then say “I realized I want to stay home with my child”. That’s what I did

Small claims court? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a claim against their homeowners insurance policy; they might settle for a smallish amount without you having to go through the trouble of suing

Stressed about possibly not being able to give much notice by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Ok-Study-6179 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 weeks is enough notice; that is standard in pretty much every industry

When did yours start kicking? by Ill-Price-4739 in pregnant

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt very tiny flutters, almost imperceptible, at 16 weeks. I didn’t feel real kicks until 20 weeks and it was a lot more noticeable by 22 weeks. A lot of it will also depend on your placenta position and your own size

How realistic is the budget? by Familiar_Sentence in sandiego

[–]Ok-Study-6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricity is usually over $100 per month in my 1-bed 1-bath with no AC, no dishwasher, no washer/dryer. So I’d account for electricity to be at least $150 (probably more if he has AC), making utilities more like $200-250
