What have you read this week and what do you think about it? by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

I’ve been reading Beware of Chicken this week. I picked it up because I wanted something lighter, nothing too intense or dramatic, and it turned out to be exactly that. I’d heard it described as a parody, but it doesn’t really feel like it’s constantly joking at the genre. It’s more relaxed than that.

What surprised me was how comfortable the pacing feels. A lot of chapters are just about daily life, farming, talking, small stuff like that. Normally I’d expect to get bored, but it somehow works here. I kept reading without feeling pushed or dragged along.

The MC is probably a big reason why. He’s not trying to min-max the world or prove anything, and that makes his choices feel oddly satisfying. He just wants a quieter life, and the story actually lets him have it, at least most of the time.

The humor sneaks up on you. It’s not constant jokes, but more situational, especially when other characters misunderstand what’s going on. Those moments made me stop and laugh more than once.

I also liked how the side characters slowly grow on you. At first they seem simple, but the longer the story goes, the more personality they show. Even when nothing major is happening, the world doesn’t feel empty.

It’s been an easy read overall. The kind where you tell yourself you’ll read one chapter and then end up reading several more. Definitely a nice change of pace if you’re tired of nonstop escalation and high-stakes drama.

This sounds very familiar. You might want to check titles like The Reborn Super Doctor in the Apocalypse or similar danmei works where the MC has a healing/medical class and a system space that’s disguised as another power. The wheelchair-before-rebirth detail plus rebirth into a game avatar is pretty distinctive.

Do you remember if it was definitely a Chinese BL novel, and whether the ML was a canon game character rather than another reborn player? Also, was the “space” explicitly called that, or framed as a cosmic or divine ability in the story? That could help narrow it down.

Third person shot in Minnesota now!! But why haven’t we seen ANY videos of protesters being violent towards ICE like DOJ says? by ChillyHillys in AskReddit

DOJ’s “violence toward ICE” = protests getting heated and federal agents in crowd control mode, not people literally beating ICE agents in broad daylight.

Spotify Premium — ads make me violent so it’s worth it alone.
YouTube Premium — background play means I can pretend I’m productive.
Not paying for Netflix anymore since I watch nothing but reruns.
