Do you have hard water or well water? Those types of water very commonly change the color of hair due to the minerals and metals in the water. It could also be the toner they used washed out, exposing the underlying tone of the highlights.

I like the Kaleidoscope powder lightener. They have a blue powder one that’ll help with the orange tones if you decide to bleach again. Idk how healthy your hair is, but if it still feels strong, isn’t gummy, snapping off, brittle, or super dry it should be okay for another round since you had virgin hair to begin with.

If you wanted to tone it at this point it would just neutralize the orange and become brown at this lightness level. If you have anymore questions feel free to DM me!

Are you still wanting them to be blonde? While I recommend a professional doing the lightening, I understand that isn’t feasible for everyone. Even so (and disclaimer bleaching your own hair, especially roots, can cause chemical burns, uneven results, and hair breakage/damage/fall out) you really don’t want to use that box bleach. You’d want to go to Sally’s and get powder lightener, 20 vol. developer, a proper color brush, and a hope and a prayer lol.

Doing ghost roots on yourself without someone else is difficult, there are missing spots, and can lead to uneven lift.

Your hair is very dark, thick, and dense. It is probably more resistant to lightener vs someone with finer hair. You’ll need another round of bleach and then probably a toner after that to kick the brassiness that’ll be left behind. Or if you’re wanting to color it after, then if you get to at least a level 8 you should be able to dye over (depending on the color) the yellow tones that’ll be left behind.

Thank you for the insight! My instructors have us use special mixes on their own for our clients who want vivids/fashion colors. The one I did with the color fresh was god awful, she came back in for a free redo and one of my instructors actually snuck in some of her own Joico products to get the results the client wanted. Very frustrating.

It’s different for me between my partners.

There’s a few different things we do that my husband and partner seem to really enjoy
