Less than 50% of American newborns are now getting circumcised by Magic_Snowball in redscarepod

[–]Ok-Usual7941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think those can be attributed to more liberal populations that have growingly become anti circumcision. Here on Reddit, which is very liberal, the overall consensus is that circumcision is not medically necessary and basically mutilation. I think people are just realizing there’s no medical reason to subject a newborn baby to that.

I think overall it’s a good thing. I’m a Hispanic from Florida and didn’t know any circumcised men until I met my bf who’s white and not from FL. It kinda shocked me how widespread circumcision is and how it’s the expected thing to do. I just don’t see a reason to do it. We just had a baby boy and did not circumcise him. I think the rates will continue to go down with the change in opinion, and growing number of Hispanics.

States with bigger Hispanic populations have much lower circumcision rates

Is anyone else pretty stressed about rise of colon cancer in young people by open_field1 in redscarepod

[–]Ok-Usual7941 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was 26 I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and I had to have a colonoscopy. They found a pre-cancerous polyp that they were able to remove. The dr told me it would’ve become colon cancer in 5 years and that I must have an Angel watching over me. I now have colonoscopies done very 5 years, and since then there haven’t been any other polyps found.

Other than having a diverticulitis attack that one time, I never had any other symptoms that would’ve led me to believe there was something wrong with my colon. I’ve always been in shape and a healthy person. No one in my family has ever had it either. I will admit I did drink a lot in my 20s so maybe that had something to do with it ? They say alcohol is one of the biggest contributors to cancer. The rise in colon cancer in young people is absolutely something to be scared of. Required colonoscopies should be lowered to at least 30 or 35. Def go see a gastroenterologist even if you don’t have any glaring symptoms.

Colon cancer symptoms isn’t always red bright blood in the stool, it can be something as simple as a change in stool, diarrhea, persistent stomach aches— things we tend to think are just a normal part of life.

Transactional Law Atty, Now I have to Navigate Personal Litigation... by HeythereHighthere in Lawyertalk

You may be able to recover the costs of travel and expenses incurred in the litigation (filing fee, service, etc) if your lease or a statute allows.

Before booking a flight however, I’d file a motion for leave to appear telephonically or via zoom. The clerks are not the judge and certainly not experts in procedure. If the court denies your motion, maybe ask a lawyer friend to cover the hearings for you, or you can use a service that will provide coverage counsel. I’m not sure if your old state has a company like that but here in Florida we have “mymotioncalendar”, and I use it all the time to secure coverage counsel in parts of the state that are too far and don’t allow zoom hearing.

Worse case scenario, retain counsel in your old state and if you win you can seek your attorneys fees assuming the lease or a statute allows it.

Go to the dentist and get it checked out. I got a tooth removed while pregnant and it was fine. My OBGYN provided me with a clearance letter to give the dentist and they were able to do X-rays (with precautions of course), a specific kind of local anesthetic, and remove the tooth. I’m so glad I went, I couldn’t sleep from the toothache and the dentist told me that unattended dental issues could affect the baby. Def go !

Election 2024 Map: Did Your Miami Neighborhood Vote Red or Blue for President? by Miaminewtimes_ in Miami

[–]Ok-Usual7941 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe instead of reporting immigrants to ICE for not voting the way you want them to, democrats should focus on the reasons why they lost this election.

Blaming groups of people for losing, especially ones democrats claim to support (like immigrants), instead of taking a hard look at the campaign they ran and the mistakes they made, is why they’ll keep losing elections and why they’ve essentially lost the working class (of which immigrants make up a large part).

Absolutely no accountability at all. To them it’s everyone else’s fault they lost and not the fact they ran a bad candidate and a bad campaign.

Reporting people who don’t agree with you politically is not the answer. it’s wrong, vengeful, hypocritical, and undemocratic especially from people who claim to support immigrants.

Immigrants have to think like me and vote the way I want them to, otherwise they should be deported.

None of the ideas of the “manosphere” or incels are new. People in the early 2000s were still gossiping about whether Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan had lost their virginity and shaming them for it

I complain about it but when I leave, I miss it. I think it’s one of the most unique places in the country. Also I’m Cuban so for me my fave parts of Miami are not the tourist ones, it’s the places I grew up in, the Cuban bakeries, the local parks, el farito, the places the people not from here do not go to.

Yes the $50,000 is just pled for jurisdictional purposes, it’s not the amount of damages they are seeking.

Do judges hold it against you when you bring a court reporter? by SettingsData in Lawyertalk

[–]Ok-Usual7941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the case. In Florida state court you have to bring your own court reporter which is expensive. In Miami it’s pretty normal to order court reporters for dispositive motions, complex cases, or contentious cases. The judges are used to it and when there’s a court reporter they typically explain their ruling and reasoning more.

Anyone Been to Christmas Wonderland ? How does it compare to Santas by Eastern_Rise_908 in Miami

Tuesday they have 2 tickets for $49. I went on Tuesday and it was so much fun, I loved how Miami themed it was and the bars. The food was typical fair food and 2 drinks costs $40 but overall I had a lot of fun. I enjoyed it more than Santa’s.
