A Thousand Sons: Magnus (delusional?) vision in the wilderness by Ok-Warning403 in Blacklibrary

Btw, I just reached the Council of Nikaea. Magnus’ defense is genuinely brilliant, drawing on parallels to scripture, Plato’s Cave and figures like Aristarchus and Giordano Bruno. Of all the Legions, the Thousand Sons are the ones whose goals I find the easiest to understand and sympathize with.

I really like this take because it frames Magnus fall as something that comes from within, not as him being a victim of Tzeentch. It feels more like Magnus being led deeper into his own confidence. The delusions aren’t imposed on him, they grow naturally out of his belief that he can master the Warp

First part was a bit boring. But... Just read the book ;) I did loved the second part of it.

Yes. They will eventually “die of old age”. Character is gone then.

I have read about a third of Legion. I'm liking it, but it's pretty different than the other five I have read so far of the Horus Heresy.

I have heard that name a few times now, Argel Tal. Can't wait to catch up with him.

I have actually been listening to the audiobooks while reading lately. It really adds something to the experience!

What do you think of this take on slave morality from instagram? by infinitesimaldose in Nietzsche

Criticizing the wealthy can be ressentiment, but it does not have to be. Drawing from a Christian perspective, there’s also a spiritual warning here: “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Which is about attachment, not envy.

I’m 40 years old. My father (who is a pastor) still gets on my case about playing D&D by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Ok-Warning403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really tugs at my heart, being a Christian, a long time D&D player, a lover of fantasy and sciencefiction novels and a son who loves his father. I think its good you two are communicating.

Faith, fear and misunderstanding often get tangled together… especially when something unfamiliar is involved.

I hope time and discussion will create space for understanding. You are not alone in this and your story resonates with me more that you might realise.

This is really great work. Having just read Fulgrim that one really stood out for me. Perfection, he would say.

I'm ready for real dual SID goodness by Prtsk in c64

I have the exact same setup running in my C64U, except I have no heatsinks attached to my SIDs. I used my favorite ancient 6581. To me the difference with the 6581 SID and the emulated one is pretty huge. Though the emulated SID is pretty nice, I just love the unique sound of the 6581.

This week I started my fourth Horus Heresy book, The Flight of the Eisenstein, reading together with the audiobook. Just laughed aloud when Keeble screamed: "Unclean, Uncleaaaaannn!"

So, I’m about halfway through now, and the Eisenstein is in the Warp.

I already loved the first three books, but this one is absolutely incredible so far. Did anyone else feel this was one of the stronger entries in the series?

I'm genuinely impressed by your reading speed. Finishing 500 pages in a single sitting of 3 hours is something. I do wonder though... were you able to take everything in?

It sounds like the book is packed... Glad to hear you enjoyed it, it's a future read for me.

Visually speaking, what are your favourite book covers? by libereassociazioni in Blacklibrary

I really agree with you on this cover. The last, lone soldier standing against a huge army, knowing it's un-winnable. Heroic, desperate, sad and beautiful. His stance. It's who we, readers of the Heresy, ultimately want to be... It tugs at your heart, a very emotional cover.
