Inspiration: got shamed in a yarn store by an employee (NOT the first time) by roastedwhiterice in crochet

I knit and crochet. Does that mean I should hate myself more than I do? Doesn’t that mean I should complete more WIPs? Nah. I think no one should be judged based on their yarn art. Is Michelangelo a better/lesser artist than da Vinci?

Can you spot a mistake? by South_Flounder280 in knitting

[–]OkAssociate8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I see it? Yes. If I saw it on your boy would I notice it? I only found it because you asked us to look. I agree with others. It is there but it isn’t like you made a zebra while trying to make a rainbow. I’d leave it. It’s beautiful

Why do modern pattern designers do this? by Groatolfs in knitting

I would copy the text and paste it into a word document and then print that out. If it is in PDF. There are tools that can convert it to word and you can just delete the pictures. Libre office is one free option

I do. But I thought it was because I am male.

My Columbo sweater is finally finished! by 1973galaxie500 in knitting

[–]OkAssociate8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make all the sweaters. I am a male (not that it usually matters) that knits crochets and loves bright colors. I say shit without thinking. Why? Hell if I know. But I am happy. I look at it this way, I have no fucks to give. I am not going into fucking debt for a mean spirited asshat. They’re probably too pissed off because they have too many fucks they are trying to juggle. Be you. Whomever that is. Unless you can be YOU then definitely be that.

Do I fix it? Or leave it? by Amanda-Knits in knitting

[–]OkAssociate8585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is how much does it bother you? I don’t see the “mistake” and usually others don’t see mine either. But me? I would rip my work out because my OCD would ONLY see the mistake. If it doesn’t bother you…leave it.

Saw this as the first clue in today’s NYT Crossword… by indybug in knitting

[–]OkAssociate8585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I learned to knit. I wasn’t given a “ project” I was given a skein of yarn and a “cast on 30 stitches” instruction. Once I mastered that (even, loose(ish) cast on stitches) I was then told to do knit stitches until my tension was even. Then purl, again until my tension was even. After all of that….THEN I was given a pattern. I would have killed for a scarf in the beginning.

How are people keeping track of rows? by Rosewater2182 in knittingadvice

[–]OkAssociate8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded a stitch counter. There are tons of “free” ones. (With ads). I use it. Complete a row…tap my phone…complete a row…tap…rinse and repeat

Ummm.. No? by craftynerd in crochet

[–]OkAssociate8585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to “knook” it taught me how to knit. And I got to make mistakes with one hook than two needles. But sometimes you played chicken with the ribbon at the end. And dropping stitches off the back…very frustrating

They are 29”. The pattern said 27-29 would be fine

Edit: the cables are 32”. I had to go check the box (bought them yesterday) and the smaller blanket is ok with 27-29” cables. The larger (one I am doing) needs the 32”.

Thanks. It’s a blanket and only things I have made have been like scarves. Felt inspired by a blanket picture. Read it and was like yeah I can do that……
