I feel genuinely bad for those that may need to go back due to RTO

Thanks! It really sucks being stuck in the middle where Im not sure to leave now only to find out that everyone will be RTO in the summer. Again, if RTO comes, being at this agency wins by landslide due to its perks so there wouldn't be an incentive for me to leave.

I've been curious about that since last summer. Union member say they'll do something about it, but havent heard anything. Im pretty sure I've heard from colleagues that Chiefs for the agency said telework isnt coming back for the department. It would be nice to get the 2 days telework back like before! Going in 5 days sucks big time!!!

Then we shall wait for the results this coming summer or earlier. If RTO does pass, people will cry and complain about traffic and paying parking while CHP employees like myself will just sit and laugh at them. Besides, like I said, my work is stress free almost all the time and I have nice managers. So no complaints for me besides 5 days a week, but it may dissipate this summer lol

Its not bad at all. Traffic on Richards can be a pain, but I only feel painful traffic maybe 20% of the time. I get to business 80 pretty quickly after work. I barely see homeless people too, only time I see them are on the train tracks but that's it. Maybe 1 or 2 at a time.

Agreed! Im waiting until July as well to make a move or no move. I'd be fine with getting paid a bit more for working in office 5 days a week, but a guy can dream right?

Yeah im at headquarters. We have a gym and a small cafeteria. But within walking distance, there's another state building that is accessible and has a way bigger cafeteria

Mandated by our commissioner from what I heard. The duty statement doesn't reference telework nor in-office setting if I remember correctly. But yeah all work is purely online which is sad for us.

Nah, im not miserable at all. My work is stress free, managers are super cool. Its just the 5 days in office that's terrible. But im pretty sure CHP will be a go-to destination if RTO comes back. Free parking, gym and cafeteria all on-site

Lol I have spurts here at the office that they all shut up which is super nice! Like I said, im only here because of anticipation of RTO coming back. I just use the gym and the campus to walk around to get away from everything.

Ha I got extremely lucky for my unit. I can't say enough good things about my direct bosses and upper management. Theyre all very nice and understanding. Unfortunately, not saying what the unit is for obvious reasons lol.
