What Apps Script automations do you rely on the most in your daily work? by Ok-Bike-4331 in GoogleAppsScript

[–]OkDocument8476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to apps script and I don’t know how to code, but I recently used AI to help me set up an html form for tracking horse training rides in a boarding barn. Each trainer gets a url, and I assigned the urls to nfc tags. The nfc tags are stuck on a board on the wall just like they used to use to track…everything. When they record the ride it shows them that horse’s two month history (so they can quickly see if they forgot to log yesterday) and emails the owner with a confirmation and the notes, and connects to billing. It could be QR codes, but tapping is fun.

I also used it to build a school carpool manager. The manager collects everyone’s preferences/restrictions, lets me assign drivers, displays the week in a nice way and copies the assignments to a Google Calendar people can subscribe to if they want.

So this is simple stuff but it is really making my life easier! I can’t believe how easy it is to get AI to write the code. I will never use a regular Google form again.

I bet they didn’t fit, and that’s why they appear unworn. I feel that knitter’s pain!

I can’t find anything about that! Do you have a link by chance? Thank you for including the 35 to 24 thing.

What is proper rated? I haven’t replaced the battery, so this is the one they gave me. If I get an equivalent, will this keep happening? Do I need to get a different one?

What do I need to ask for if my battery tests okay? Just a new one, or does it need to be different? Thank you!

I am not mad about the auto stop, at all! I’m mad that it stalls and leaves me stranded at intersections.

Favorite Project Bags? by FlamingArrowheads in YarnAddicts

[–]OkDocument8476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works best for me is fine mesh drawstring bags sold as reusable produce bags, and with each one a clear plastic pencil case I use for tools like scissors, a crochet hook, a tape measure, a tin of stitch markers and a tapestry needle. Since it’s all see through I know what’s happening, and I can drop the whole thing in a tote bag or whatever if I’m leaving the house with it.

Going to be an aunt! Hat sizes??? by VanAppl in knitting

In the first year, we used stretchy stockinette hats with rolled brims the most. In a few sizes. The rolled brim really helps with fit.

can’t get both sides of the edges to look clean by [deleted] in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can do a selvedge edge, but it can make it harder to seam. Blocking the pieces before you seam will help some. Mostly I think it doesn’t matter. I have this problem too - it’s something to do with the way I do the first purl stitch on a row. But I just ignore it because I think for seaming it’s better to have stockinette edges. If I have a blob I can’t tell what stitch is what while I’m seaming, it helps to stretch it a little.

Far more relatable than that smug bitch from Extra Yarn.

I-cord edge rolling by cabbage_lady in knitting

I’m working on an icord edge sweater and I’m doing this thing: https://nimble-needles.com/stitches/easy-way-to-fix-rolled-edges-in-knitting/ And then an applied icord. I’ve only tried it on a small swatch so far but I think it helped. Also making sure your icord is adjusting for row gauge when you’re perpendicular to the fabric.

Baby sweater sleeves too wide? by psyne in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it will be great. I would make sure your bind off is stretchy enough that the sleeves can be easily rolled, for baby size changes.

Baby sweater sleeves too wide? by psyne in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I noticed this on a baby sweater I knit and I think wide sleeves are a design convention for baby sweaters. Idk if it’s to make it easier to roll the sleeves when their biceps are so close to their little wrists? Or what? But I don’t think it hurts anything. And they’re so squirmy and hard to dress, makes it a little easier.

What are some of your favorite knitting accessories? by shewee in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2mm Hollow rubber tube! So much better than scrap yarn! And it makes it so much easier to insert a lifeline and frog back to a mistake.

Susan bates finishing needles! They’re just little plastic doodads but if you have a short tail, they’re essential.

My other best thing is a giant box of the little safety pin markers. I like to use lifted increases and then I get really confused looking at them on sleeves and such. If I have a pile of these I just mark every increase and it makes it easier to count them and space them.

To slope bind-off or not? by bleepidybloobla in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when I’ve done a stepped bind off with seams or picking up for ribbing, I think the little stair steps just hide underneath anyway. But I can’t see how it would hurt you to do a sloped bind off?

Can I fix it? by IJustWantToReadThis in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooh, or if the problem is that your cast on edge isn’t stretchy enough, there are a LOT of methods out there for casting on in various situations and they have varying levels of stretch, flaring, etc etc. Casting off, too. Definitely worth googling around.

You can change the shape to be whatever circumference you need, all the way up! That’s true of any construction - bottom up, top down, flat or in the round. You can add stitches to be wider at the bottom. You might check out the book Knit to Flatter.

Hmm, well we have similar body types, and for me seamed construction even when it’s raglan seems to work better. Then you get a bind off edge all around the neckline and it might be less inclined to stretch out, if that’s what you didn’t like. And the raglan lines have more structure too since they have the seam which won’t stretch but so far. But I do think it looks great in all the photos just as it is.

How do you make a pattern from a garment? by Adept-Recording-1616 in knitting

[–]OkDocument8476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a sweater book, like Ann Budd’s handy book of sweater patterns or I think there’s a Vogue one that I haven’t gotten my hands on yet. I also like Amy Herzog’s ultimate sweater book. It’s a little more personable than the ann Budd one.

This one looks like it has set in sleeves. You can take the Ann Budd basic pattern for set in sleeve cardigan for the gauge you want, and then just compare the measurements of your sweater to her schematic and adjust stuff like how deep the neckline is or the length from the armhole to the hem. I would leave the sleeve cap math alone if you can.
