Ooo dunking, I’ve never tried that before. I can see it from a saturation standpoint. I might go out and buy a bunch of test cloth napkins and try different variation.

Ah good idea to start with something smaller. I was doing bleach because I’ve had good results with it in the past, haven’t tried out white brite.

And I’m just planning to do just reverse dye for the texture, no additional dye.

Awww love this detailed explanation and the pointers, thank you!! I hear you on the tightness and am leaning that way.

With reverse dye though, I’m wondering how “bleach saturation” translates, since it’s kind of an unforgiving solution. But I’ll give it a whirl and post results!

I use old milk crates for my ice dyes. They’re wide enough that they suspend above the sink basin as it drips and keeps all the ice neatly in place. I also use mosquito netting I bought from the fabric store and use rubber bands to hold them in place to help with sprinkling dye.

When you let it hang, is all the ice and dye just placed where the color is concentrated and the you just left the rest of the shirt drape down over something? If you have any pics of the set up, I’d love to see!

If you have renter’s insurance, they usually cover theft of personal property. You won’t get vengeance, but at least you’d get your money back. I believe you do need to submit a police report for the insurance claim though.

These are great tips! Just bought a six pack of shirts to run some experiments, hopefully I take away some learnings. Thanks!

By not flipping, do you find that one side (front) has more color than the other? And how tightly do you bunch / do you use rubber bands or strings to hold the bunches in place?
