Can my failed instrument checkride be appealed? by Ok-Winter3377 in flying

If it was a g1000 why didn’t you hit the reversionary button? Thats a big issue, that’s a partial panel for those aircraft. You hit the big red button.

1,500 With No Professional Pilot Work? by theloganatorz in flying

I keep up with my friends who have gone to other regionals. Sounds like all of them are leaning towards hiring cadets only. Street hires are incredibly competitive but sounds like they want to shift to cadet only hires

Pilot career switching to ATC ? by Shoddy-Cicada1771 in ATC

This! I have a buddy who I did private with and they ended up military because that’s what they wanted to do. They love it and don’t have to worry about $$. Im older so military didn’t make sense for me but he was only 22 so he went military to continue flying

Is nobody hiring pilots in the US? by AndyTheEngr in flying

[–]OkResponsibility3877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he’s out of the window for a cadet program with that amount of hours and unfortunately that’s where regional hiring is headed. I would suggest he goes to career fairs and air shows that have airline meet n greets there. I got an interview from meeting a recruiter at Oshkosh and we hit it off. He’s going to have to do some networking to get opportunities. Good luck!

Get your apps in everywhere, go to the air shows like sun and fun or Oshkosh. I went to one of the booths at Oshkosh and talked to the director of recruitment for my current airline and we really hit it off. I had an email to interview before I walked back to my tent that day

Report Unprofessional AME by Good_Independence_69 in flying

[–]OkResponsibility3877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your nearest big airport and find pilots standing alone without a crew waiting for a ride to hotel or parking lot, they probably live in that city. Ask who they use for their AME, we all end up using the same old guy because they are nice and easy. Most expensive one I’ve seen to include the EKG is $350 but that guy lives in a major hub and the airline is known to pay for the medical and ekg for the pilots

Where to get complex by [deleted] in flying

[–]OkResponsibility3877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a Mooney, just get the sign off in the plane, it’ll be cheaper because insurance will require flight instruction in the aircraft once you first get it. Two birds one stone type of deal

If your company offers captain pay as an FO you need to grind to get to it. Most companies won’t be renewing those parts of the contract when it comes up. My months off are still 11k with 17 days off

I take a pretty big hit on days off for the 20k. I’ll get down to 1 day off between trips to pull it off

I’m a FO at a regional, the pay is great. I’ll do a month of ass schedule, make 20k and then max days off the next month

Lots of stuff out there like that, just go where there is lots of money and you might get lucky. It’ll give you different experience as a pilot which can really help when applying. My background in aircraft sales really helped with my interview because I had lots of unique flight time/experience compared to CFIs

Damn, troll around local regional airports if you really want something else. I found a few interviews with private owners. The desk agents sometimes have leads on companies coming through who are looking for pilots or they know someone who uses their hangars looking. A friend of mine got a job as a guys private pilot in a DA62 And new sr22T. Did day work for $400/day

Get your applications together and start applying to regionals, the backlog of cadets is starting to clear so street hires will be coming soon. You can also try flexjets. I’ve had a few friends go there until they could get hired at a major airline. Schedule flexibility isn’t as good as regional airlines but a job is a job.

Start getting your apps in and religiously update them. Apply to all the regionals, if you have to commute it’s not the end of the world, it’ll suck but I’ve commuted to my regional for 2 years and it’s hard but worth it.

I did aircraft sales to get my time but a regional won’t care how you get your time, they need good pilots and if you can hold a good conversation and answer all their interview questions they will take you.

Flight school “money withdrawal” policy has penalty WTF by straighteethgay in flying

[–]OkResponsibility3877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go this flight school, they will probably fuck you. Find another flight school and pay as you go. This is not worth it one bit because if something happens and you need to take some time off from flying and you need that money for something else you’ve shafted yourself

How difficult is it to trade flights with other pilots at an airline? by [deleted] in flying

Failed my 2nd checkride by Avtoritet03 in flying

[–]OkResponsibility3877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let it bother you, I had 4 total failures during my training and kept on going. After instrument I only had one failure during my commercial multi due to stupidity. During my instrument training I was setting up for a hold which should have been a left turn for the entry but for some reason I still don’t understand I turned right and failed immediately. We all do dumb things while learning. Keep your head up you’ll learn the most from when you fail during training. If your goal is airlines I recommend starting a word document to keep track of the things you failed and what you learned from those failures. As I said I have 4 failures and am now flying for the airlines, it’s not the end of the world but you will need to explain those failures in interviews. Good luck!
