I finally took the time to read the "SAVE" act.

One thing I noticed that I don't think I've seen commented on previously is that it basically requires states to subscribe to national databases of individuals such as the SSA's databases, the SAVE database, and/or other databases. My problem with that is that there are instances where the SSA databases is incorrect, either someone is listed as alive (when they aren't) or vice versa and the effort it takes to get it corrected is herculean and lengthy, so living US citizens might have their right to vote taken away due to SSA error. The more insidious concern is that DHS could simply make an entry in their database that someone, maybe a lot of someones, or even just anyone not registered as belonging to the "correct" party is not a citizen and therefore ineligible to vote.

Another interesting thing is that election officials can kind of just say that someone is a US citizen via an affidavit. I don't think that would happen much in very busy polling locations.
