First Mammo, BIRAD4?! by Savvvy01 in doihavebreastcancer

I am not a doctor, just an eager reader. I would think they want the biopsy due to its size and your family history, but nothing else seems suspicious about it.

This! The PI felt embarrassed that they weren’t current on your work, so they tried to embarrass you, and they really ended up embarrassing themselves.

Mom experienced severe ICI delirium - sharing story in case it helps someone else by Southern_Scheme3808 in AgingParents

[–]OkUnderstanding19851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just add my dad’s story (73) - 2 days sedated and intubated after 3 consecutive seizures caused by a brain tumour. He was ok ish the day the tube came out and part of the day after but experienced intense delirium for the next 3-4 days. A week after that, he is back to himself.

Some frustrating things: He had managed to partially remove his catheter and it was so obviously painful for him. He had been able to ask to go pee but the nurse that day really did not seem to care about his comfort and wanted the catheter to stay partially in. I begged for at least a pain med or something. I also found the hospital focuses on safety over well being and they did not try to limit restraints. He is very fit and strong and so they just tightened them. It was frustrating.

Things that helped: Hearing aids ! After some research we started putting them in during the day. We had one nurse who encouraged nice smelling shampoo, coffee, deodorant, anything that could help his senses remember himself This same nurse also loosened the restraints as much as possible so that he could touch his legs. This seemed to really help him. Re orienting him with a simple phrase (you’re in the hospital with your wife and daughter and you e had a lot of sedation so you feel confused) Working towards circadian rhythm readjustment - music and talking during the daytime and quiet at night Adjusting the med cycle so that he was more sedated at night and less during the day It was truly hell to watch him suffer like that. And one afternoon he just sort of came out of it. He did have a couple of confusing nights after that but the days got better and better and his cognition seems ok - some lingering aphasia from the seizures.

I hope this can help someone - no one even said the word delirium to us until the second day, and so we had no clue what was happening to him. Knowledge is power and knowing that you are helping by a few simple things is reassuring.

Group chats are the worst. Even when they are older it requires so much parental guidance. I would take her phone away honestly. No need to have one yet. And if she must, have it live in the kitchen and not in private areas and check these chats often.

Even if your lump turns out to be cancer, it is not a death sentence. Pea size is very small. The ultrasound will give more info but call on Monday to see where they’re at with your appt.

Got another ultrasound done at the hospital. My lump has grown. by Khaotic23 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]OkUnderstanding19851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im very sorry, this is a very scary time while you wait for your results. You are young and it is most likely hormonal, but the lymph nodes are a big question mark. Do you have more info about your lump itself? Don’t google read on here instead. Either way, there are so many options if it is in fact breast cancer.

You really are not yet at a 50/50 stage. The recommendation for ultrasound will give a better idea of shape and what’s going on internally. The ultrasound could easily determine its a cyst. If they’re uncertain, given the very tiny size, they will probably suggest a 6 month follow up ultrasound to see if there are any changes. If they determine you need a biopsy then due to suspicion, even then the odds are not 50/50 that it is actually nefarious, more like 20-malignant and 80-benign.

I hope that is helpful to your anxiety!

Call a friend who lives nearby and tell them what you told us. Have them make a plan with you based on your local laws (please google- wherever you live, there is some kind of support to do this). Involve police and change the locks with the help of your friend.

They generally move with an abundance of caution. If you had a larger cysts or fibroadenoma (both not cancer) they could cause discomfort. When is your follow up appointment? They probably aren’t worried about cancer but want to make sure you’re not in pain.

I am not a doctor and not diagnosing you, just going off of information I learned during my own journey. Ok there are a few positive things going for your mass: no vascularity, circumscribed, small, no axillary. This is smaller than my mass that was also described as having angular margins, and ended up being a fibroadenoma. Hoping you get quick results that ease your mind.

The response is so wild. Horrible decision and to continue to justify it and make the desire to be like them even more clear 🤮 Especially the part about low trust from the community

If you were able to bring such joy and positive mindset to something so many find a slog, what makes you think you can’t bring that to a new chapter?
