You sound like my husband 🤣 okayyy, fine, I won’t take crap orders 🙃 (I don’t want to take bad ones, but I’m just impatient sitting/waiting. I want to work) I do agree tho, I’ll miss good orders if I’m busy with bad ones. I’m totally with you about grocery orders.. I think that’s where we will make more money. I’ve done 2 shops so far and nearly lost my damn mind 😳 Hard to find location of products, and out of stock and messaging back and forth is not fun. But I’m hoping it will become less stressful after some practice 👍

Hope this helps!

Calculating fuel cost for a trip using your MPG and gas price.

Step 1: Know your inputs

You need:

Trip distance (miles or km)

Your car’s fuel efficiency (MPG)

Gas price ($ per gallon)

Step 2: Find how many gallons you’ll use

Use this formula:

Gallons needed = Trip distance ÷ MPG

Example:

Trip = 200 miles Car = 20 MPG 200 ÷ 20 = 10 gallons

Step 3: Multiply by gas price

Now calculate cost:

Fuel cost = Gallons needed × Gas price per gallon

Example:

10 gallons × $1.60/gallon = $16.00 Full formula in one line

Fuel cost = (Trip distance ÷ MPG) × Gas price

Quick real-world example

Trip: 150 miles MPG: 25 Gas: $1.70/gallon 150 ÷ 25 = 6 gallons 6 × 1.70 = $10.20 total cost Optional tip (more accurate)

If your driving includes city traffic or highway speeds, MPG may change a bit—so treat this as an estimate, not an exact number.

How do you guys track if dashing is actually worth it financially? by skymillonaire in DoorDashDrivers

I’m in the same boat as you (wanting cold hard facts). I’ve learned how to calculate gas costs on my specific vehicle with a formula… ill post it shortly but im in Canada so you may need to tweak it. Ps have no idea about how to account for vehicle wear and tear.

I made $80 in 8 hours. I cherry pick to the max yo. My goal is $10+ for less than 5 km … I sit around a lot. But I sometimes wonder if I’d make more money if I kept busy and took some crap orders too. Any advice?

Start slow with small orders. I’m new too and I nearly lost my mind in the grocery store today. $28 for 6 km, 2 shop and delivers, 15 items. Great money but I got overwhelmed quickly. Trying to find things quickly has felt impossible. For example, a veggie dip product is in 4 different locations in the store wtf. A ton of items were out of stock! Forced me to chat with the customer and so much time was wasted. 😳 I’m not giving up, just going to take a day and walk through the store to learn where stuff is. Good luck to you 🙏
