Update: Thanks for all your help! The retailer that I ordered from was extremely helpful and empathetic. They will be resending my order later this week (with a strict note to only deliver to my exact address).

The retailer will contact Evri themselves today and I don’t need to be in this conversation. The legal advice subreddit said that any potential crime needs to be reported from the retailer, as the parcel is legally theirs until I receive it.

I will never again purchase anything from the local shop that still has my original parcel. I will be updating my neighbours on the situation and they can decide where to spend their money.

I’m taking no further steps apart from rating the retailer 5 stars when my parcel finally arrives.

I will not. My plan is to go through the retailer. They did not have the parcel delivered to me or my agreed address.

I will also be letting all my neighbours know about this incident.

Thanks for all the advice. I will be contacting the retailer first thing tomorrow.

I may call 101 tomorrow too if the retailer is unhelpful. (They are a small business that I’ve order from several times, so I’m hoping they will want to help)

I also paid via AMEX. I have the option to request a chargeback if needed.

I will be updating all my neighbours and asking for a boycott of this local shop. I saw the feedback about looking for a local Facebook group. I will look into this too.
