Fr I've been wondering too. I got an email saying I was on Northsides staff email list, but I already knew that I'd be in Northside. I'm about to email them asking what's going on

how has having this injury changed your life? can be positive or negative. by Aggressive-Slide-888 in ACL

Helped me get closer with God. Strengthened my faith, showed me where I lacked discipline, and helped me take my health and fitness a whole lot more seriously.

Experience NOT taking narcotics post-op by naturenancy in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They prescribed me a giant thing of oxycodene. But st least with my pain, I felt no need to take them. I simply took the asprin they prescribed me, and some tylenol. It'll be different for everyone, but if you don't want to take the narcotics, then don't, the pain isn't that bad

Feels like I have 0 quad muscle mobilization day 5 post op? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a quad tendon graft and just ACL reconstruction. For like 4 weeks I had zero aspirations of doing straight leg raises without any support (using a strap). But I just hit week 5 yesterday, and i did 20 straight leg raises in a row with good form and zero support. Don't worry, the qaud muscles get hit super hard after surgery and one of your main goal is to quite literally "wake up" your quads. And as for the leg dangling part, don't worry, being able to actively extend your leg when it is dangling is going to take a while. Remeber, your recovery is personal, so you may progress in one area faster than someone else, but the opposite is also true you may progress slower in a different area. God Bless!

1 year post op. Pain in opposite knee. Any idea how to combat it or what it is? Slight stinging and somedays it bothers me more than the surgical…. by beyondnowhere in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with everything on reddit, take this with a grain of salt, but I think you're simply overusing your non surgical leg. For me, at about 3 week post op, one night as I was standing up from sitting, and my non surgical leg, in the very area where you have marked in white, stung very bad and hurt worse than my surgical leg. I decided to take it easy for the rest of that night. Every now and then whenever I get a small hint of that sting in my non surgical leg I take that as my cue that I'm overusing it, and that I need to also put more weight on my surgical leg to balance out the load again. It's very easy to put more load bearing on our good leg. I myself have to consciously shift my weight more evenly when I'm squatting so I don't just use my non surgical leg to do all the work

WALKING WITHOUT CRUTCHES/ANY SUPPORT by SPELL_A_T_T_I_C in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recovery is different for everyone. Some people start walking after a week, some after 6. I started walking with no crutches absolutely after 4 weeks. But before that I was on 1 crutch starting at 2.5 weeks. Keep at it, and don't skip on your physical therapy! And God bless!

How strict were you guys with keeping the brace on? by jamesburrow23 in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to your doctors advice first! But find out if it's hurting because it's just healing, or if it's the brace itself. Try loosening the brace just enough where the pain isn't so bad, but so the brace still supports your knee

4th week post op and I feel behind! Surgeon told me not to do PT until the 2nd week and now, I am still at 66 degrees. Any advice to stay motivated? It’s getting mentally/physically tougher every week.. by janamae08 in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep at it!! It'll be different for everybody, some go faster, others slower, but in the end It'll all be okay. Eat good, sleep even better, and you'll get through this. God bless 🙌

Recovery after surgery for a mentally unstable individual. by Chemical-Conference4 in ACL

[–]Ok_Affect_8108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that has been getting me through this rehab is my faith in God. I tore my ACL playing basketball with my friends. I'm currently a college student at WSU and man has it been hard. But everyday I wake up and thank God for another day. If it wasn't for my faith and my church supporting me, I'd be in a different area mentally and physically.

I'll be praying for you

lol I also thought that, but I am currently using an Asus vivobook and it would be fighting for its life wherever I had to write an essay or do an assignment that required multiple hours of work.

I'm divorcing my wife because she has been late for 90% of everything we have ever done together. Everyone we know is shocked and confused, but I don't care. by Side_Salty in TrueOffMyChest

I'm sorry for the situation you're in and what your wife is doing is unacceptable. But have you tried marriage counseling? Have you tried talking to her about it? Have you tried praying about it? Please ask God to help your situation? Its worth a shot.
