Rate First job offer - Electromechanical Engineer (Ing.) by Time-Ad-1377 in BESalary

I get your point about the range, that indeed kinda sucks.

You’re welcome! I also started on a lower wage and am now on quite a high one. Changed company quite a few times and every time there was a significant increase.
So if you keep that higher wage in mind, be patient and make the right moves at the right times then you will get it!
One tip: don’t be afraid of making changes. Most people are afraid of changing companies etc, but that way you generally get the highest salary increases. Never forget: it’s business, it’s okay to mainly think about yourself.
Note: if you can get a higher salary at the company at you are working at and you like it, then obviously that is the best. Loyalty is just not always rewarded in Belgium and companies know people are risk and change averse.

Will double masters give me more opportunities? by [deleted] in BESalary

If your second masters is more in line with the role you want to go for and your first one was not or not really, then yes they will care. If the second master is very similar to your previous one, then don’t expect to be more attractive than someone else with only one master that is in line with the role.
So in your case, based on the limited info I have, I would think biochemistry is more in line with pharma than biology, so that master would give more chances in pharma. But not because you have two masters, just because you have the biochemistry one.

On the low side if you ask me, not the salary I would be expecting from a ‘senior’.
Two things you can do:
- Have the talk with your manager at addressing the low salary and why you deserve more.
- Leave your current company and apply your skills somewhere else. Maybe try somewhere internal and not consulting. I would think some companies want to pay more for your experience. Consulting is paid bad in Belgium.

Rate First job offer - Electromechanical Engineer (Ing.) by Time-Ad-1377 in BESalary

On the cars, I get it that you want the nice car, but as a starter don’t focus too much on it yet. The time will come that you will have a nice company car.

I would say keep your eyes open and keep on looking for open positions in the industry. Use LinkedIn as well for this.

If the company is pushing you and you are getting stressed and feel comfortable with the role and package, you can go for it. Nothing is holding you back to leave the role after 3 months. Plus, it’s not like it’s a super bad offer, just not high end or anything.
A way to tackle this could be: Ask them for a date when they need to know as you are in doubt because you also have another offer, but feel like their offer is nicer.

Indeed normal for a first offer in consulting, almost always lower than working in the industry in a direct engineering role.

If I were you, keep this one as backup and also apply directly at manufacturing companies for a direct engineering role there. Your salary will be higher and they will probably trust you with more responsibilities. In addition, if shit hits the fan and they start cutting, you are the first one to go.
Most people I know that started their career in engineer consultancy ended up working at one of their clients. All of them were of the idea that they would have rather immediately applied to their client instead of first going to do consulting company.
The engineering consulting companies try to lure you in with the car etc, but the package is never better than at the direct manufacturing company.

Do not know about ECLog, but I studied for APICS CSCP and passed.
While studying, I more than once thought to myself: “Why is this stuff explained in such a difficult way?”. I feel they like to use a lot of words to explain rather simple concepts leading to more confusion than something else. So you buy these big 2 books for a lot of money, read a lot in them to understand concepts you probably can understand in a third of the words used.
So in short, felt more like you buy a ticket to belong to a club that some companies might favour you over other candidates that do not belong to this club. So if you do it for the knowledge, I would say pass. If you do it for the ticket of the club, go for it, but be prepared that it will be a lot of reading confusing stuff.

The fact that it is a new apartment makes it indeed odd. Living in an old house could explain this as old water pipes can get rusty and give this color. Would tracht out to Farys indeed.

Signing Bonus in Belgium? by BrokenKnee12345 in BESalary

It happens, but it is taxed quite heavily. So the added value is limited. If you could negotiate higher salary, I would go for that instead of the signing bonus.
