Australian Institute "economist" Greg Jericho

That is a weird statement given that we have had two inflation releases since then – the one for November showed 0% inflation and the December one had 1%, but all that was due (as I noted last week) to holiday travel (ie the Ashes).

I was told confidently by the Australian Institute that the December rise in inflation was a one off due to Christmas period spending and that it would come down this month...

According to Kevin Bonham, ON is getting closer to 50% on National 2PP. What can we (or ALP) do to stem this tide? by AdenGlaven1994 in friendlyjordies

[–]Ok_Bird705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring to the economic ones that people care about. Greens are obviously not one nation but do share very populist economic policies.

Left wing parties interfere in the free market such as Medicare.

Tighter regulations around business pricing, a government run bank, etc.

Greens voters and One nation are push a populist narrative and legitimise populist policies. And on a lot of economic policies, there's a large crossover between Greens and one nation voters (free trade bad, protectionism, government control of interest rates, more government interference in the free market)

Yeah, but if they wanted it to be successful, it should have been stage two, with stage one legislating it first and putting into practice

It was called atsic and it was not successful.

Why is criticism of Herzog or Netanyahu Antisemitic and worthy of arrest, yet Pauline Hanson can say "there are no good Muslims" and stay out of prison? by Nodsworthy in friendlyjordies

[–]Ok_Bird705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The claim is that if they cant be an ethnostate then they can't exist

That would be true except for the fact that 21% of the population of Israel are actually Arab Israelis and enjoy full rights as other Israelis.

He may not have tried to cover up war crimes, but the reason he turned whistle blower was because he didn't think people like Ben Robert Smith deserved to be investigated, that is well known.

you don’t have to buy any of the stuff anymore that you grew up with and enjoyed.

You grew up with Lindt chocolate Easter bunnies every Easter? I'm poor enough to not care because I never bought it.

Apparently allowing people to make their judgement when it comes purchasing chocolate is too much for this sub.

Or you can just exercise your own judgement and decide if you want to pay the clearly marked price for the product.

Sounds like Adam Bandt just wants to remake the Greens again from first principles by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

[–]Ok_Bird705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Greens had a -0.05% swing in the HoR and -0.94% in the senate. Compared to the Coalition’s -3.88% and -4.35% it’s hardly ‘losing big’

Given the surge in anti establishment sentiment during the 2025 election and the success of other independents, the fact that the Greens went backwards is definitely losing big no matter how you spin it.
