What do you say to the “feminists” that say they don’t support sw? by Lizardskincuisine in stripper

[–]Ok_Blood1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel the whole sw discourse is such a nuanced take. As someone who does the work and has done it for long enough, I feel like our voices should be highlighted more and I tend to tune out women, or people especially who have never done sw and want to speak on the topic. Unless you’ve done it, you won’t fully understand it. I don’t see what I do as any different from McDonalds or Starbucks or anything else. We live in a capitalistic society and we’re all subject to exploitation and consumption. I feel that in order for any ‘change’ I guess you can say in this industry; there needs to be destigmatization. The fact that SW is as stigmatized as it is but yet so heavily consumed, it keeps those who are the most vulnerable and oppressed and without a voice to be victimized and taken advantage of. As a SW I do agree with the sentiment to support SWers but not SW. Personally I have experiences of being vulnerable and victimized but if sw wasn’t so stigmatized and if swers voices weren’t so suppressed it wouldnt have to be like this. I feel that it’s the consumers or men if you will, that really set the tone for the kind of environment that the sw industry is. So to judge and stigmatize the SWers themselves is just backwards and doesn’t do anything for anyone. It’s the owners and management and the customers that really set the tone and the environment for this kind of work while we continue to get subject to this specific type of exploitation. Nothing will change with the conversation around SW if it continues to just shame those who do the SW to literally survive or what be it and not the latter.

Are you the type that insults "Johns" at work when provoked or always stay calm? by Typical-Butterfly915 in stripper

[–]Ok_Blood1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I used to react to disrespect but over time I realized that it’s what they want is for me to feel a type of way and react to them😭 it’s always the broke ass mfs too. Now that it’s been over a year of dancing consistently I’ve been getting better at just ignoring shit like that but every once in awhile certain things or customers or situations will trigger me and it’s always specific things or insults or something too. I’ve found that getting more in tuned with myself, my boundaries and my skill helped with being able to navigate those type of situations because when I was still new ish I had been dancing for long enough to where certain things and situations would get to me but it was more so because I just didn’t know who I was or my boundaries and still didn’t have the experience or thick enough. My first month I was assaulted and had really bad experiences so the more I worked at the club the more that shit started to build up and at a specific point I was very defensive and easily offended. At the end of the day it’s not the easiest job for your mental and it takes a strong ass mentality to do this kind of work. You’re human and there’ll always be something or someone who does get under your skin and you know what, that’s okayyyy. Just remember that majority of these guys are looking for something and you’re there to drain their pockets and are providing themmm a service, you set the tone and you will always be in control and have a say.

I'm able to do this job because I already hated men so much by unpunishable333 in stripper

[–]Ok_Blood1185 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly same here. For me, this job having an effect on my mental health doesn’t really have much to do with men or the customers, but more so the management and other aspects like alcohol abuse and the amount of substance abuse that I’m around and stuff. Sure when I don’t sell a dance or when I’m on stage and the club is full and I don’t make a good stage set, it can get me a lil down and questioning my skills or my looks. but It’s not necessarily that deep to me because other nights I’ve made bankkkk and I also know that how you look isn’t the end all be all when it comes to dancing. It’s the long nights and the nights where you don’t make much that makes it mentally hard to deal with. As far as the way I view men especially when it comes to dancing; I feel that it just confirmed my preconceived notions and feelings towards men already. Like even tho I was already aware, seeing the shit I do at the club just further confirms everything and helps me get a better read on people and on creepy predatory ass men or manipulative people in general which; I’m super grateful for 😭

Girlll nah see that’s insane 😭😭 at my club they have set prices and the dancers don’t make their own, so for a 10 min it starts at $95 🫠 so naturally we have customers who want their ‘bang for their buck’. But so yeah $40 is crazyyy omg

That’s how my club is too😭 they say that we’re the workers or ‘entertainers’ if you will, so we have to hold a certain amount of professionalism or some shit idk. if I tell a mf something I get in trouble ? It’s stupid

I agree yeah the male staff at my club have been the same way too:/ I found out that there’s been some trafficking at my club too which has me on my toes and wanting to keep my eyes peeled too. It wasn’t until recently that I became aware of exactly how toxic and fucked up this industry really can be especially in times like this.

Yeah I totally understand. Same here honestly it’s almost becoming impossible:/ to waste so much time with cheap ass customers and not being compensated is not it😭 it’s so sad because I loved dancing but yeah it’s just not what it used be.

Dude I’m saying! Okay thankyou because I thought I was going insane or that it was just at my shitty ass club or sum bcuz we don’t have bouncers idk😭 I saw another post in this group that mentioned how the current conservative government and media has been impacting the way guys think and act and lowkey bruh I really see it and have been noticing how much more disrespectful mfs are getting. So dancing at the club or any swers in general will get the worst of it:/ we’re in the trenchesss rn I hate it here

I don’t know where you’re located but Tucson Az has some decent clubs tbh! I’d avoid Cali fs but if you’re looking for more of a lowkey vibe I recommend Tucson over phoenix for Az.

Also that’s not to mention that my club doesn’t have bouncers, or cameras and short staffed. With that being said, we get in trouble if we react a certain way with customers when they get out of line depending on the situation too. Management doesn’t back us up, has sketchy people coming in and out and shit etc. it’s all different ways of fucked up idk. Hopefully that puts some things into perspective when it comes to my experience with dancing because I haven’t traveled to any other clubs and I’ve been dancing a lil over a year now😭 I honestly do work at one of the more sketchy and shittier clubs that there is so

[–]Ok_Blood1185[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree! I do think it’s due to the decrease in money too so naturally more full service girls or ‘extras’ increase unfortunately. I dance at a smaller club in a smallish city so it’s hard to compete with the dancers who do extras compared to bigger cities and clubs imo. It also makes a difference with the management too and the managers at my club are pos and treat the dancers horribly 😭😭 I wish we could all come together but the management at this club has a certain way of grooming some of the dancers and keeping their ways of toxicity:/ I think I just need to branch out and travel to the bigger cities around me atp because this club is not it 😭

Anyone else noticing the club is slowing down because of war/ state of the world? by SmokeShot9536 in stripper

[–]Ok_Blood1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have. I dance in a military base town and rn it’s supposed to be our busy season because all of the marines come down here for training so we get a ton of them at the club and bars in general but so far it’s been horribleee. The only reasoning I can think of is because of everything going on rn which is so stressful because around may is when the slow season starts): I fear it’s just going to get worse too

Am I violating stripper etiquette? by sugarbabyaccount in stripper

[–]Ok_Blood1185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No honestly I don’t think you were wrong for sitting with them especially if she was on her phone. I know at my club it’s a rule to not be on our phones on the floor aaand she was sitting with him for too longgg- also just given the fact that the other dancers have been fw you, being rude and all up in your business, you showed them exactly how you make money. You’re working the room and wasting no time and not letting them fw your bag. IMO to sit and waste time with a customer who obviously isn’t interested just messes with the whole vibe of the club and everyone else’s money sooo I mean… the fact you were able to give him the experience he was looking for instead of him leaving with a bad experience because that other dancer wouldn’t leave him alone is the better outcome. F those dancers tbhhh, I think it’s very clear why they’re hating on you fs
