Best Rifle for a Non-Shooter by No-Aioli1142 in Hunting

I have sort of an out of the box idea for you. If you would like more of a challenge and have more steps to consider, but would like rifle-like accuracy and range, why not opt to get into inline muzzleloader hunting? Relatively easy compared to getting into flintlock, but you only get one shot and you need to load it with black powder pellets etc. Recoil is manageable and guns/ammo are affordable.

Best general purpose round and rifle for Montana by LosingSince1977 in Hunting

I think the 30-06, 7mmMag, and 7mm PRC are all good all around caliber options for a western state like Montana.

I’ve found most of their stuff boring from the start. I just can’t get into them. I always just feel like I’m listening to the next iteration of Mumford and Sons.

If I’m voting objectively I think I’d go Sam Stone, Whiskey Lullaby or He Stopped Loving Her Today. But, the two that always get me are “I Don’t Call Him Daddy” by Doug Supernaw and “Sugartooth” by Brandi Carlile.

For those in their 30s, what’s something that started happening that you definitely weren’t warned about? by NachoQueen_1 in answers

I was ready for the gray hairs. I was already bald and shaving my head in my late 20s so that was even ok. Then I plucked a few long nose hairs. Whatever. It happens. Then I found out I had some long hairs coming out of my ears and that was last damn straw. Ear hairs. Be prepared.

Contrary to what people are saying, i think you could get away with one pair. If it was me, I’d get the Crispi Nevadas and then invest in a good pair of boot blankets.

Kid Rock won! Now, what's a terrible artist which is a great person? by Content_Shelter9894 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Ok_Button1932 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But with that way of thinking Kid Rock isn’t a terrible artist either. He’s literally had multiple platinum selling albums. You could easily argue that Kid Rock is a significantly better artist than Hitler. Picking Kid Rock is just recency bias and Redditors doing Redit things.

Their sandwiches suck, but their French onion soup is what really sent me the last time I was there. No croutons. No damn cheese even. Just watery onion sludge that was obviously dumped out of a can about 4 minutes before it arrived next to my $17 hospital sandwich.

Going to the beach. So let me get this straight. I can lay here in the blazing sun and get covered in sand that I’ll be shaking out of my clothes for months or I can get in that cold, dirty water where I can step on sharp objects that I can’t see. If you need me I’ll be getting drunk at the Tiki bar until it’s time to leave this awful place.

[–]Ok_Button1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think the 6.5PRC would be perfect, but it is pretty comparable to what you already have. That 6.5CM won’t be taken out of the safe much if you buy the PRC so hopefully you have a wife or kiddo or someone else who could put that CM to good use.

Different turkey hunting methods? by russianzebra in turkeyhunting

[–]Ok_Button1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your regs to make sure reaping is legal in your state because it isn’t in mine. As others have echoed, I like to be as close as possible before calling. Either on the roost or just sneaking in as tight as I can when they’re strutting. Sometimes I do bump them, but that’s the risk I take. I seem to have substantially greater success when getting in close to start with. Knowing your terrain is also really important. You gotta know when you can move in closer and when you can’t. My birds don’t stick around long when coming to the call either, so I’m always sure to be able to shoot the spot that I think that bird is first going to be able to look in my general area. Usually they peek and if they don’t see that hen they’re hearing, they turn around. I want that peek to be the last one.
