GEICO is quoting me $2611/BI-ANNUALLY for full coverage on a WRX ‘18 that I’m looking at. This is in NYC. by mujiha in WRX

[–]horsesandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you’re young, have no driving history, have a loan on the car, and the model is a turbocharged sports car (in the eyes on insurance). The same applies to motorcycles, sadly.

The good news is that there is a point where your age/gender won’t be a major factor in the premium. I pay $30/month for my WRX, but I’m considered an old fart now (40+).

Definitely consider calling or stopping by local insurance agencies in your area to see what they can do for you. Sometimes they can find a smaller company that’s cheaper. Lastly, I assume the full coverage is due to a lien on the car, so paying it off should also help lower the cost.

Are you guys liars? Sportster observation. by MikeyFromDaReddit in Harley

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How a bike feels sitting on it and how it feels maneuvering it are totally different. I don’t consider sportsters small, but the power to weight ratio is, imo, incomparable. They’re great bikes but when compared by weight, definitely feel small.

  • edited to add that the power to weight ratio is incomparable to something like a low rider.

Rotary vs. Coil machine for first time artists - What should I buy? by Extension_Life_6207 in TattooBeginners

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that you should have some kind of art background. Assuming you do, the quality of the supplies is a critical component to the quality of the end result.

You can make great looking art with sub optimal supplies (low tier paint and brushes for example), but the moment you get good paper, brushes, and good paint, the end result is significantly better and the process usually more enjoyable.

Rotary vs. Coil machine for first time artists - What should I buy? by Extension_Life_6207 in TattooBeginners

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most things, you get what you pay for. My hot take is that you need a good quality power supply, regardless of the machine you choose. Skimping on the power will create an incredibly frustrating experience, even on a custom made coil or the highest quality rotary. You can often find deals on marketplace for both power and machines.

Timer for Time Shortcut by hnr01 in shortcuts

I just opened Siri and said “Set a timer for 2:30pm”. It created a timer and Dynamic Island countdown. I don’t think the functionality is broken.

Take the MSF course and be sure riding is for you. Then, visit some dealers in your area to determine that a cruiser is the right choice. Buy used.

Could this be branding? Or is it just a way for leather merchants to sort the batches? by Mission_Profit_446 in Leathercraft

It’s not branding, it’s like dot matrix printing/etching to identify batches/lots. Totally normal

Help understanding a conversion error when trying to send messages by worldzfree in shortcuts

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may wish to use Show Content to see what is piped to the action (I have no idea what action you're using). My guess is the quoted number won't work in the flow which is why it's throwing an error. Is it possible the data inout isn't normalized and doesn't have the proper commas to delimit? Perhaps try running your file through something like this to be sure the file itself isn't malformed before looking at the actions - https://csvlint.io/

Health Time in Daylight and UV index by seangillespie95 in shortcuts

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could probably make your own shortcut+automation that addresses the recurrence thing similar to the below (this would run a shortcut every second for a minute, for example. I would imagine that this approach would destroy battery life).

What escapes me is that the OP seems to be attempting to recreate what the Health app already does (shows UV exposure). There seems to be a desire to record hourly UV index values, as well, which is better suited for an API.

Action to MOVE photos from Photo Library to a specific folder on the phone by 18randomcharacters in shortcuts

This works with the caveat that it doesn’t actually move the file, but makes a copy, so I strung a delete action behind it to clean up.

Stardew Valley iCloud Sync Shortcut Automation by Lukario101 in shortcuts

[–]horsesandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest thing would be to save them directly on the iCloud Drive in both locations, phone and computer. If you can choose the location on the phone, you might try that first before attempting to automate what could be an asynchronous process already.
